Sky Watch Friday!

contrasts and color

I know what you're thinking. Sky watch is supposed to highlight photographs of the sky, right? And this is a picture of a tree. A thousand pardons. Well, at least I got a little sky in there; does that count? ;-)

.

Okay, so we had a picnic on Sunday, and I felt like that cartoon called Ziggy. You can probably tell from the photo that part of the sky was bright and beautiful. Other parts of the sky had dark, heavy, rain clouds. So we got rained on now and then, but each time, we knew it would quickly pass. I thought back to that cartoon character that had a single rain cloud pouring over him while the rest of the sky was clear for everybody else.

.

Tuesday, I went back to the pond where I spotted the herons before. (Look carefully... you'll see one egret waaaaaay in the back.) The birds were too bashful to give me the exact pictures I wanted, but I came away with a few decent snapshots anyway... they're just okay. I even crept through heavy foliage to try to sneak up on them. I learned that I'm a lousy "sneaker-upper." Plus, I felt like I was wearing a thick, wooly blanket... of mosquitoes! Ah, well! It's good to be loved!

.

When we (my son and I) withdrew and prepared to head home, I saw this scene and liked it so much I wanted to share it with you. It's mostly water (which is reflecting the sky), but the sunset lends it palette and I think that really does a lot for this shot.

.

Visit Tom to enter this week's Sky Watch Friday.

I am now taking a 10 day dose of steroids for my Rheumatoid Arthritis pain and it works. I am free of pain. For now and am taking a chance to see if I can visit the Sky Watch Bloggers and see what's up this week.

I am not participating in Sky Watch Friday just because I might not be able to make it around to all if the pain flairs up again and that would not be right for me.

I don't know if you like to read or not but if you do this place is amazing. Strand's bookstore in New York City. They have 18 miles of used books. Think about that—18 miles. I ordered three used books, got them and they are in excellent condition. http://www.strandbooks.com/app/www/p/home/.

I enjoyed seeing your blog post for Sky Watch Friday and I thought your photography was excellent.

  31. I love that last photo!

Did you see that amazing rainbow yesterday - I don't think I've ever seen one so large and so complete. I was so frustrated by O's digital camera because I couldn't get a wide enough angle shot to get the whole thing. What a funny picture - me out in the rain running aroud the pond for different angles all the while thinking - I wonder if Craver has seen this and is getting really good pictures - but not wanting to leave the site for a minute to go phone you!

  33. Sorry I'm a bit late to get around. Don't you just hate it when life takes precedence over blogging? LOL

I think reflections of the sky on water are perfectly legit, Craver!
