holiday elf

Rylan (my grandson) came to visit on Christmas Eve. The whole family instantly became paparazzi when he showed up. We even have voice recordings on cell phones. He is exceptionally vocal and his voice has impressive dynamic range. (That means he likes to hear himself scream.)

.

He brought his mom and dad with him, which was nice. I like them too, and we had a pleasant visit with my daughter and son-in-law. I hope they don't mind that we gushed so much over the baby.

.

When I first heard that they were going to visit, I wondered what it would be like to see my grandson. The last time we saw him, he was only a week old. He is ten months now. I prepared myself for a shy baby, and decided not to take it personally if I freaked him out. What a delightful surprise then, when he freely allowed himself to be held, and did not cry, except for when he needed to be fed and changed. I held him for a little while, but naturally, we wish we could spend a lot more time with him. I offered up a silent prayer for him when I picked him up, and I remembered doing the same thing the first time I held him at the hospital as a newborn.

What a cute child Craver. I can see why grandpa spoils him. :)

Craver: How did you get that good looking grandson. He looks like a wonderful little guy.

It's a sweet thing to have family that enjoys each other, Imac

Joan, I wish I could lavish all kinds of goodness on this little guy.

He sure gave me some good poses, didn't he, Gaelyn?

Now Fishing Guy, you know I can't take any credit for his looks. His momma became my daughter when she was five years old. I only hope that he finds good examples here and there from his Grandpa-- that he might follow in them. (And that he avoids my mistakes.)

Grandkids are the best, aren't they? Oh, and so are grandparents! Something magical happens when these two generations get together.

So sweet, I wanted to gobble him right up, Leeloo! I absolutely refuse to do baby talk, but I LOVE to get down on their level and play.

I wish we could accommodate longer stays, Mary. Originally, I wanted to save one of the bedrooms as a guest room, but that idea went out the door, when we gave each of your brothers their own space.

The top photo is tri-generational, EG. Mrs. Craver is usually camera-shy, but I got to sneak this one in. I hope to talk her into letting me take more pics of her.
