night light

night light

April 9, 2014

This week's challenge is night light; it was my choice.  Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme: Womtig, Fishing Guy, Katney, Imac, Lew, and Christine Anne.

Though a regular night light could make for an interesting subject, I chose to go for a broader application of the term.  These shots were all taken at night, with a variety light sources. The header was a long exposure from a hotel in Saint Louis.  The scene was darker, but because of the longer exposure, the colors came out exaggerated.

schoolyard tree illuminated by the property's lights

double: sunset as the night light, plus a church serving as a beacon in dark times

Does the ceiling light count as a night light?  Sure, why not!

I just love those long-exposure city images, and yours is wonderful. You've got a great display of night shots with lots of different light sources; it's neat to see how each one is different.
