Sky Watch Friday!

Hooked!
Those who have been reading my recent posts must know by now that I am hooked on fishing. This was the scene at Sunday night's fishing spot. You might be able to see my bobber (float) just off center in the above photo. Tranquil scenery, isn't it?

.

Did you hear about the one that got away? ALL of them got away, because I still have never caught a fish! It doesn't really matter, because we all had a good time. I even liked the visit from the park cop. He came checking for our licenses, and received free entertainment from our kids who had been doing a bit of sleuthing.

.

What?! Did I just feel a tug on the line? Nope, I got a good fight from a log at the bottom and some landscape netting, sometimes resulting in lost lures but alas, no fishie nibbles.

.

Here's a question I'd like to toss out there to see if anyone can help. Do geese scare fish? We had a gaggle of three or four families parade through and swim near our spot. Do you think that's what made our fish so bashful? I would like to pack some food, go early and stay longer, maybe in a more secluded spot... no geese this time.

.

Close-up of the rock-island in the middle of the water.

.

Visit Tom if you want to play along with Sky Watch Friday.

I used to fish a lot and then took the barbs off the hooks so the fish would have a better chance of getting away and it became more interesting for me. I just pinched down on the bark with a pair of pliers and off they popped.

I just like the blues on these photos!

Craver: I love the scenes from a boat, it makes it even more special.

No fear, better fishing days are coming. This is the latest Spring we have ever had and the cold water slows everything down. Cold fronts every weekend doesn't help. As far as the geese are concerned, they would not scare the fish away. It might slow down for a short time. They make for great photography.

Now there's a nice perspective, the sky from a boat. Looks very relaxing. Better luck next time with the fish...

You are early! Love the fishing photo and stories. It does seem kind of logical that geese would scare away fish, since some birds eat fish, right? Anyway, the shot of the geese is adorable.

Great post... I love fishing as well. I do most of my fishing as fly fishing... my hubby does his a bait fishing but if you do want visit my blog Fishing Fiesta for tips if you haven't already or maybe you can offer me some! Some days can be just like the day you described but hey, it's still nice to get out though and enjoy the open air.
Oh, geese do scare fish away! LOL
Great photos...

A nice picture for us sky watchers who can't get to the fishing...

A little fishing joke for you.

One day a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very sexy nightie.

"Tie me up," she purred, "and you can do anything you want."

So, he tied her up and went fishing.

Pleasure is where you find it.. :O)

My favorite part of fishing is not catching fish. Then there's time for the views! These are great shots. Enjoy your hobby!

The photo is almost surreal...beautiful colors.

I don't think geese scare fish--at least not where we fish. Do you ever go by the solunar charts?
http://www.in-fisherman.com/reference/solunar/calendars/
I have yet to get time to really test them but I they are supposed to be a real help. Also, do you fish with live bait or artificial? Sometimes just changing colors of lures, or going from silver to gold blades will work.

fishing is not for me! but for those who do, I sometimes think them crazy! I just can't stand/sit so long and not get a bite! I am too impatient for fishing!
My hubby likes to go deep sea fishing, I sit on the shore and wait, after I go shopping, lunch etc!

You are so right, very tranquil!!!

It's mostly about the atmosphere, isn't it? I mean, you don't need to fish to live. So the air, the water, the rhythm of the boat rocking, that's the best stuff.

No idea about the geese, but that last photo is my favorite.

You're welcomed to come fish our creek any time. I might even lend you a boat!

Beautiful shimmer on the water. I haven't fished in years, so I can't answer your question. Fishing in a peaceful spot like that must be as much about the tranquility quotient as the catch.
