hoppin' good times

The big news this weekend was soccer. The team my buddy and I coach, on which both of us have children who play... we won our first game!!! Unfortunately, we didn't take pictures.

.

The rest of this weekend was crammed with all kinds of good stuff. Saturday afternoon, we went to a cookout at a friend's house. These guys really know how to throw a party. The mix of people was absolutely delightful. There were a few new faces from his family and neighbor friends... Loved it! After eating waaaay too much, and a season of friendly chatter, the siren song of their pond overcame any sense of social graces. I pulled the fishing tackle out of my van, and extended our party to the edge of the water. The fish barely nibbled. Mostly I just caught glares from the local frogs.

.

One coworker tells me that the Asian way of eating is, how shall I call it? More "communal?" Everybody shares all the stuff in the middle of the table. I think I would prefer eating that way. If we did, I could have sampled a little of this, and a little of that, without feeling like I had to polish off a whole cheeseburger by myself between other savory morcels. The food was terrific. I'll say it again; this guy really knows how to throw a party!

What a lot of summer fun! I love impromptu gatherings like that.... with food too! Love those frogs, in fact I posted a pioc of a frog today too!
And I love that ticker you have posted showing how far your grandbaby is coming along.... that's so cool!

At first Louise, I couldn't get anywhere near the frogs, 'cause they were skittish. Then, I carefully took some photos from a couple yards away. Right after taking several shots, the kids at this party walked right up and almost touched that same frog! Imagine the pictures I could have gotten if I had gotten that close. Anyway, they reached out to touch it, and it finally hopped away.

Mommanator, you see the picture with all the guys sitting in a row? That's exactly what they were talking about... eating frog legs.

Thanks, NaNcY!

I'll hop over to check out your frog pic, Shammy. Hey, coincidentally, the kids have nicknamed this baby "Tadpole."

Oh, the frogs! As a child, I loved the pond behind our house and the green, green frogs peering up at me.

Hoppin' good times and the first thing I see is a frog - yep, I'm in Craver territory!
Congrats on the winning of the game - must feel good.
Sounds like you had a great time - thanks for sharing the good times and the photos with us.

Thanks Lime. They're good at sitting for a portrait, as long as they don't get scared off.

LL, I suppose you were able to see them eat? That would be a neat thing to observe.

Carletta, if you like those kinds of plays on words, you need to check out David McMahon. He's the master.

The kids played great. The games and practices feel like they're over too soon. I wish I could keep on going with the footwork, ball control, strategy, etc. Last night, my son and I continued to play after everybody went home. I tried to quit a couple of times, but he kept kicking the ball back and challenging me.
