Earth Day. Is this for real or is it a bunch of hoo-ha? For me, every day is a day to pick up litter and take care of my environment. Things like zero population growth make me gag! Ice age, global warming, save ANY animal at the expense of humans... pshhh! (We should be saying, "Save the humans!") We might be able to do a lot of things to control the quality of life here, but the earth will not--can not be destroyed until Christ returns. Seriously, do you think the Sovereign Lord's promise to return and judge the earth is going to be thwarted by stuff that we control? The earth is not our mother. If you celebrate Earth Day, that's fine. Just remember to acknowledge its Creator too, okay?

Im all for whatever day to help safe guard our world and Nature that God created for all species to live on.

Sure, and that's a good thing, Imac. The stuff that bothers me is when people elevate plants or animals to the same level of importance as the people that Jesus died for. Or worse, when people practice idolatry by worshiping the earth. I sincerely hope that those who know me can testify that I care about beauty and nature, but I care about people more.

I never did get the hugging a tree thing. But some people really do hug trees.
Earth day is a crazy thing to me. Silly.
God's earth is His. He actually cursed it to a point, because of mankind's sin, first Adam, so we have thorns and weeds.
And then He sent the flood.
And in Ma-la-chi, the only Italian prophet, the Lord said, "And he [Elijah: John the Baptist] shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the Earth with a curse." (4:6)
And praise and thank the Lord for being made a curse for us, and the whole universe really, so that He is now making all things new, and one day there will be a new earth. Looking forward to that day, that will be a real earth day, let me tell you!
God bless. And may we earnestly love Christ and the Church, and the lost, and also be good stewards of His earth. Amen.

I try to take care of my environment every day, and if I do the job well, the environment will take care of me.

Taking care of the environment can be honorable, Shammy. I certainly try to do my part, and encourage others to do the same. Dear lady, may I respectfully challenge part of the statement you offered as a comment?
...the environment will take care of me.The environment is a created thing which we have stewardship over. We may take care of it, but it does not take care of us. The One who created trees and water and people is ultimately the one from whom all blessings flow. In truth, there is no such thing as "Mother Earth." How is assigning anthropomorphic qualities to an inanimate object different from pagan idol worship? Again, I am not saying that we neglect the environment, but that we acknowledge God as number one, and everything else in its proper order.
