First, we have a neglected corner of the garage gutter. Tsk, tsk, tsk. It's a shame; I know. We sent one of our sons up there to clean it up, but he had to wait until after I snapped my photo.

The gutter on the house is not as bad. I even think I like the image of this rugged, green pioneer... boldly photosynthesizing up there with no peer support.

I have three stages of guttering... the garage, the back sun room and the rest of the house. I can climb up onto the garage and the sunroom roof to clean out the eavestroughs, but the house is far too high and the roof too slanting.... and surrounded by big trees, so the gutters are absolutely choked with black goo, which, as you know, is great compost for baby tree seedlings to germinate!
I think I have to hire a gutter cleaning man!

You made me smile. You are very brave to allow your camera to take photos in your back yard. MY camera would have been reprimanded for daring to do something like that. ;-)
Eavestrough sounds so much nicer than rain gutter, Shammy. I'll have to remember that word. If you lived nearby, I'd take a ladder up there for you.

Bravery... this? Not at all, EG. The prettier stuff goes to the front of the house. Our back yard planning has more tolerance for these kinds of things, as long as it is a good place for the kids to play. Then again, my camera has not seen the glories and splendor yours has. There is an endorphin-releasing quality to your photography.
Hey Craver, I bet if you saw my house you'd change your mind quickly about taking a ladder up.... my house is approx. 115 years old, Victorian brick, very very tall, cleaning out the eaves is definitely a daunting proposition.
Craver: When I first moved into my property, I used Silver Maples from a friends house gutter to plant in my lawn. They have all matured and are gone but they gave me a lot of shade.
