Scenic Overlook -- Bolingbrook, IL
Have you ever had dreams of flying? I have. In my dream, I discovered that I could fly almost the same as a person discovers how to float in water. It was a matter of letting go and relaxing.
.
So, it was more of floating than flying, but that was only the beginning. As I hovered near the ceiling, I found that I could make myself move around like a slow balloon if I tried leaning in my mind..
The rate of progress was exciting! Once I had what I considered a reasonable control of aerial movement, I decided to be adventurous and soar freely above the treetops. I was afraid that I might get clothes-lined by a wire, but this was too exciting a discovery for me to touch down just yet. I went faster, and faster, experimenting with new tricks in the air. The fear of serious injury never left me, but instead, it served as a catalyst for the thrill of the moment. This isn't like me; I'm usually much more cautious, much safer..
After a while, I realized that at some point, I would need to return to terra firma, and only then did it occur to me, that I had no idea how to land! ...Then I woke up..
(Folks, I'll be away from computers for a considerable part of the weekend, including Friday. Please do not be offended if I do not get around to visiting you. I'll make an effort to pop in if it becomes a realistic possibility.)

"Have you ever had dreams of flying?"
Never. I envy you Craver.
God bless your weekend bro.
Sounds like an -out of body experience.
Enjoy your blog free weekend my friend.
I've always wished I'd dream of flying. I have some pretty crazy other dreams, though.
gonna go flying off for the weekend are ya? that's good. oh, and if you want to land just think pound cake.
I enjoyed that post. Made me think of Richard Bach. Enjoy your weekend.
Craver: You certainly had me fooled you flying fool. It is a wonder that you didn't fall out of bed as you flew along. Have a great time.
Sounds exciting! Maybe tonight I'll learn to float in t in MY dreams. ;-)
How sad it is to wake up from these great dreams. Wouldn't it be nice if flying was so easy. :)
Enjoy your weekend my friend.
I've dreamed of flying many times. I just start flapping my arms and up and away I go. Maybe I'll see you up there sometimes!
Craver, my flying dreams are the basis of my book I'm writing :)
i'm sorry it's been so long since i've made it here to comment. let's see if i can catch up...
yikes on the haircut. good thing hair grows pretty quickly.
the yoda ears on the baby are hilarious!
as for the flying, yes i've had dreams of flying. the funny thing is mine always seem to occur like this. i am being chased by someone or soemthign very threeatening and just as they are about to close in on me i take off into the air. it is the m ans of escape i never knew i had. so far the landings have been gentle fortunately.
I'm back! Thanks for visiting. I enjoyed reading the comments, and look forward to catching up with you as soon as I get a break from this pile of work.
Though I don't put much stock in the interpretation of dreams, they're fun to talk about. Mommanator, I believe that sometimes God still uses dreams to communicate with people.
Can you think of any other cool dreams Sandman? I used to study Tae Kwon Do, and remember dreaming of super-high sidekicks and jumping kicks. That's funny, because inflexibility was my greatest setback in the martial arts.
"Enjoy" a "blog free weekend?" It hardly seems possible, Imac! ;-)
Anything you can share with the rest of the class, Jenn?
Oh, but nAncY, if we go with the Peter Pan happy thoughts theory of flying, pound cake would only make me soar higher!!
Richard and I are very close, Sandy. Not in the usual sense, but only geographically. He is from Oak Park, Illinois.
Fishing Guy, if I had fallen out of bed, it would more likely have been because of my wife. She has done it before!! Sometimes, if I make a joke she doesn't approve of, she'll throw my pillow across the room, too. :-D
I hope you do, EG. It was an amazing "experience."
Here's a question for you Joan. If you suddenly discovered such an unusual gift, would you tell others or keep it a secret?
Hahahahaha... I'll keep an eye out for you, Dot!
It sounds good Eve. I look forward to hearing more about it. I hope you get it published.
You're so lucky, Lime. I remember dreams (from a loooong time ago) where I tried to escape, but always seem weaker and slower than the pursuer. Thankfully, I haven't dreamt anything like that in my grown years.
