reflections from a rainy October

Barth Pond -- Downers Grove, IL

It feels like it has rained here EVERY DAY THIS MONTH!! There have been some breaks with sunny blue skies, but they were few and far between. Most skies have been dreary and dismal... unless you like gray, in which case, they were terrific!

.

Overcast skies may not by my first preference for outdoor photos, but when I was less than impressed with what was going on above the horizon, I aimed the camera down a little bit and found that the view below had its own special kind of serene beauty. I liked the view of the sky better as a reflection than in the air.

.

Have a blessed weekend!

Shouldn't all that green be gold, amber, and burnt orange by now?

Nice picture Craver. Photographs are such a great blessing aren't they?

You have a exceedingly joyful weekend, and especially Lord's day with your family. The Lord actually charges us to have joy, and be happy. Now that's an encouraging thought.

I agree, watery reflections distort the original scene in a very engaging manner, love that photo!

That is a terrific shot Craver. Don't worry, soon you will have snow and wish for the rain. :)

Mommanator, that's one of the benefits of inclement weather, I think. This was taken during a brief respite between rain clouds. That being the case, there were very few people running out doors, and that gave the place a quieter mood.

It's funny Sandman, how some trees turn earlier than others. All the crimson maples from an earlier post (Oct. 20) are completely bare. One tree near my home is half green, half yellow. It's all beautiful. I trust you had a joyful Reformation Day?

It never ceases to amaze me how much pretty stuff is always close by, Nancy. Sometimes, in the middle of the ordinary, all I need to do is turn my head, look higher or lower or maybe zoom in on one aspect of the big picture.

Halloween was fun, Shammy. We walked the kids around for about an hour, enjoying the nice lawns, and saying hello to neighbors while the kids collected a ton of loot.

That doesn't stop you though, does it Imac. I noticed that you have lots of fun playing with lights and special effects.

That may be how I feel before long, Joan. But those words will never escape my lips. I try to always accept the circumstances of the moment, and never entertain envy. Though right now, I think that the normal rules I live by sometimes get compromised on the blog as long as I have a pic and a story.

Craver: You got a neat capture of the pond, I have the same feeling about lack of Sun.
