Immediately, I spotted a bright red circle... up in the tree! It was the cover of a plastic jar, and there was a nutty squirrel on the other side of it, trying to get inside. Quick as a... squirrel, I dashed inside and grabbed my camera. He let me take a couple pics from a safe distance, and eventually got tired of me and took off. I laugh, because he dropped the cumbersome jar and had to hike it all the way back up again. I'm guessing that the squirrel does not shop at the same stores I do, but that his breakfast was absconded from my neighbor's trash. Pretty crafty, considering he doesn't even have opposable thumbs.

Whenever I finish a jar of PB, I always put the jar outside for the tree rats, I find it hugely amusing to see a squirrel with his head in a jar.
Aww how delightful!!
Caught in the act. At least it could read enough to get something good to eat. Excellent capture Craver
Nice one Craver, great capture.
Shammy, do you suppose squirrels use peanut butter like cologne? (Mmmm, you smell delicious!) I'm afraid if one overdid it, the peanut buttery smell would be too much for this squirrel's buddies, and they'd go carnivorous on him.
You mean the peanut butter? Yes; always. Hey Mary (a.k.a. thekingfamily), have you been given a due date? Nevermind, I just checked your blog, and it's April 30. We're calling this baby "Blueberry," right? That's cute.
Hey folks, click over to her blog for pictures of my grandson!
A reading squirrel, Gaelyn... who'd-a-thunk?
Thanks, Imac! I never change my header, but the one you're displaying at your blog is fantastic!!
how did he get it onto the tree? did you tie it there for a camera shot?
nice pic! reminds me of the great film Over The Hedge where the animals habitat has been turned into a ritsy neighborhood, so all the animals go in there and steal all the people food! I wonder..was the peanut butter extra crunchy with nuts?
Thanks for visiting for the header quest, it was fun
Ah!! You have to watch out for these guys Craver, he will be stealing the potatoes and beans off your plate next. Crafty little buggers. :)
A lovely story and I am pleased you got some pics for us. :)
oh my word that is just too funny! and i am so impressed not only that you caught shots of the squirrel with the jar but how clear they are. that first one looks like he's wearing a "caught with the hand in the cookie jar" look! or PB jar, as the case may be.
OOOOO More congratulations are in order I see, as you are going to be a grandpa again! How exciting. I'm so pleased for you all.
No Mommanator, he did it on his own. I think he had already bitten a little hole at the bottom, so he had something to grab with his teeth as he climbed, but it was still cumbersome and funny.
Regular smooth, Mr. Dave. He seemed to enjoy it immensely!
Imac, you and Tom Wigley and Fishing Guy and Darla are so creative and talented!
Joan, I don't mind them as long as they stay out of the house, garage, and trash bins.
Thanks Lime. I was concerned when I took these shots, that I might end up with a focused leaf or branch and a fuzzy squirrel.
Thank you Shammy. I would appreciate prayer for this young family. My daughter has cute pictures on her most recent post.
Craver: Those squirrels do like peanut butter. Great capture of the working little guy.
that's nuts!
The elephant is on my wildlife blog called Natures World of Wonder. The link is in my sidebar. If you like animals, ther is a lot of good stuff there.
Very cute!!
That's amazing! Yes, that squirrel knows what it likes!
Those working squirrels will never get peanut butter from me, Fishing Guy. I like it too much to let any go to waste.
Good one, nAncy. :-D
Natures World of Wonder. Got it... wow indeed! Most impressive, Joan!
She's alive!!! Hey there Sharon! I see you've been out and about with your camera. I took a look at your Flickr pics too, and they're great!
As I said to Fishing Guy, EG, it better not mess with MY peanut butter or we'll see who bites whom.
