gateway greetings

While I was visiting St. Louis, I nearly buffed the nose right off my face with Kleenex. Sunday and Monday were the only times I went out walking. Here, I used a secondary flash in an attempt to compensate for strong backlighting at the Gateway Arch. No tripod... I just propped the camera up with a bag, and held the second flash in place with goose poop and leaves. Seriously, there was a 20° slope where I placed it, so I had to use a stick to push a couple bird turds in place, and top them off with leaves for a place to lay my flash. I was hoping to try the shot again later with a bluer sky, and with a different solar perspective, but decided it would be wiser to drown myself in tea and rest quietly in my hotel room. I feel much better now.

Goose poop, EG... who knew!

Hahahaha, I'm such a poser! Brother Greg it was weird trying to be nonchalant, and act natural, as if the camera wasn't there, and I wasn't planning every last detail.

You should talk, Imac! People, I have seen this man lay belly-down on rocks in the middle of a stream to get a good shot. Imac, I like how you have the ability to find a shot, and not just notice it when it's there.

Very resourceful using what's at hand. I didn't know you are a scatologist. ;-) I always find it difficult to take my own pic and look nonchalant. But you did it with the geese help. Nice shot of the arch, oh, and you too.
Hope you're feeling better. Not fun to travel when sick.

Goose poop and leaves?? LOL!! You are worse than me Craver!! LOL!! Then I guess goose poop smells better than elephant poop!! You have never smelt anything worse in you life than that. LOL!! If you dont believe me I will send you some except customs will declare it an illegal substance. :)

At hand Gaelyn?? Ewwwwww.... I said I used a stick. ;-)

I feel much better now; thanks.

You say I ought to be committed Lime? Don't think I can't read between the lines there.

What a kind offer, Joan. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble with customs, though. So I'll just go to the zoo when I want to refresh my memory of the big guy's stink.

"Worse than you..." I take that as the sweetest compliment, my dear. Thank you. :-)

MARRR-TINNN!!! What's up, homey? Yeah, goose poop... one does what one can, eh?

I've always maintained that goose poop is the best kind of poop for propping up cameras.
No other poop can compare ....

Good to see you back in blogland safe and sound, in spite of your close encounter with a ditch.

Craver: This is a time when the story is as good as the shot. I never found a good use for goose poop when fishing. Maybe I can use it to help the boat slide off the trailer.

Nice photos. The one of the Arch is great. Did you go up in that bad boy?

woowoo what a looker you are!
goose poop? o really Teehee

Oh Shammy, you're so poetic! I imagine an ode to goose poop in a serious tone.

Fishing Guy, you know the nearer your destination, the more you're slip slidin' away. (Especially when lubing with goose poop.)

Not this time, Sandman. I haven't been to the top of the arch since 1980. It's a funny kind of elevator that ascends just a wee bit awkward.

Looker?? Only after photo-shopping... don't feed the ego, Mommanator. (lol) Some of my peers are going into their midlife crisis. I'm hoping to keep my head screwed on straight through this season.
