blue shadows

Blue Shadows on the trail

Soft wind blowin through the trees above...

.

This moon picture triggered a memory of the Randy Newman song that was sung on The Three Amigos. I just can't get that song out of my head. And now, if I have my way, neither will you.

.

In this photograph, we don't have blue shadows on the trail, but on the moon itself. This was taken at about 8 PM while visiting my sister on Saturday. I was fiddling with the camera's settings, used a tripod and cable. The lens was my 300 mm plus a 2x teleconverter.

.

Most of the family was inside playing board games. For the most part, I don't care for board games. I stepped out front, to accompany my youngest son who was whittling. He said it was the Argo from Greek mythology.

.

Suddenly, I spotted a hawk in a tree, but by the time I got my camera, it took flight, carrying it's dinner and dropping something disgusting on our van's windshield.

.

Since the camera was already out, I snooped around for something to photograph, starting with a cardinal, but ending up with this picture of the moon. The moon is nice; it does not quickly fly away.

I don't know the tune from Amigos but these are in my head!!!

Nice shot!

Thanks for sharing it.

Maybe this will help get that song out of your head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHVpJGXZ21o&feature=related

I like this picture of the blue shadows on the moon. I'm sorry about the mess on your windshield, but I'm glad you got this picture.

Great shot of the blue moon Craver. I have to agree that's easier to capture than the birds.

Too bad I didn't know your friends were coming to the canyon.

This is terrific Craver. I am never satisfied with the moon shots I take.

Song like that are TOTALLY annoying!! LOL!!

What a pity about the hawk. But why or how can you step outside without taking your camera with you? :)

I know the feeling Craver, slowing down with age lol.
Love your Moon shot.

Nice response Carletta! And might I add that you have a lovely singing voice, too. ;-)

Good point. Maybe it is a guy movie Bird Girl, but I promise this one isn't coarse or vulgar. It's about three actors who are mistaken for real cowboy heroes. Chevy Chase was a little bland, but Martin Short and Steve Martin brought their A-game to the set for this dumb, but fun movie.

It has been a long time since I heard that song, Mr. Dave. I like REM, but never owned any of their music.

Quite the opposite Sandman. It's back now... thanks a lot.

Oh well. George, I guess that's what windshields are for. Plus, it made for entertaining discussion on the way home. (lol)

And the nice thing about the moon Gaelyn, is that you don't have to keep it in a cage. It visits regularly. You don't have to feed it. It never bites you. The moon does not cause a mess underneath to clean up... oops, we got a bit of moon smudge on the windshield!

Actually Joan, I brought the camera bags inside my sister's house with me, but had to go back out to get the tripod from the van. Fortunately, my family has been very good about my Pentax security blanket. They never complain about it.

Yes Imac, I have always enjoyed shooting the moon. Wait... did I just say what I think I said?? Well, you know what I mean.

I think that's the best I've ever done with the details on the moon, Leeloo. I've seen better, but I wanted to share this one as my personal best.

I don't know the song either but Carletta gave me some to get in my head!! :-)
That is a fantastic picture of the moon. Really!!!
I'd opt for taking pictures instead of playing board games too.

Craver: That was a neat capture of the Moon in the blue sky.

oh what a glorious shot. i just love how it captures the texture of the surface.

as for songs from the 3 amigos, my son does a mean rendition of "my little buttercup."

That's right Happyone. After all, there's a reason they're called bored games. ;-)

Fishing Guy, up to the time of this photograph, I have had trouble with taking pictures of the full moon. The rest of the phases have been more rewarding, because of the details on the craters. This blue sky doesn't wreak havoc on the camera's light meter, as much as the super-contrast of the black, night sky.

Okay Lime, so we had an elder's meeting on Sunday, and guess what song I was humming? You planted "My Little Buttercup" in my head, and we had a good laugh about it.
