ask me a question

My daughter uses a pen name. I wonder where she got that brilliant idea. (You don't really think my parents named me "Craver," do you?) She submits writings to a web thingy called Teen Ink. Most recently, she wrote a song and of it she says,

.

"I wrote this for my dad's birthday this year. I think one of the best gifts is a song, and I did my best on this one! I could always ask him my questions, and I don't always understand his answers, but he's always happy to answer. Love you Daddy!"

.

I'll admit that I got choked up a little, when I read it. Would you please click on the link to see the lyrics? If you feel so inclined, please give it a generous review by clicking on the stars on top of her page.

Sheila Zyra's Ask Me a Question

.

My birthday is not until July. Maybe she'll have the music by then.

By the way, that first pic was taken a couple years ago. Here is a more recent one:

Happyone, I made the mistake of trying to explain the story to a coworker. I had to pause to regain my composure.

She has not recorded anything, and is a novice at the guitar as well as singing Chris. That's part of what surprised me. I didn't know she was writing songs.

I saw that reply, Imac. That was nice to see.

Done.
Done.
Both :))
But, I must let you know that I left her site with tears in my throat (is that a place for tears?...)
I left a comment.
She is a wonderful lyricist, Craver.
Hugs,
J.

Oh, she looks like her mom in that shot (don't tell her I said that!).

Oh. My. Gosh!
You have a writer on your hands and a good one. I got chill bumps reading the words. You must be one proud Dad!

It was really nice seeing your name in my comments today and your words about my Grandson's boots made me smile.
Yes, I play with Sammy and Lily and Lucy. My grandkids keep me young and spending time with them is special. My grandparents never played with me but I spent a lot of time with my Grandma and when chores were done she did sit with me and we talked and sang so I have good memories that I guess I'm passing along.

Thanks so much for leaving a nice review, Jackie. I hope that she takes this encouragement and translates it to an earnest effort into that arena. I see her with her guitar all the time. She is still a novice, but we've all gotta start somewhere, right?

Oh, and I assumed it was in my profile. I think Blogger only posts the birthday if you allow horoscopes as well. That stuff turns my stomach, so I do not allow it on my profile. I came into this world, wrinkled and reddish on July 11. Thanks for asking. :-)

Christine, I'm sure she wouldn't mind hearing that. She should be used to it by now, anyway.

So glad you liked her words, Carletta. Yes, she makes me proud to be her Pa. We hold high standards at home, and she does pretty well. It's just too bad that there are no boys that can ever be good enough for her. That reminds me... I need to stock up on ammo. (heh, heh, heh)

That is a wonderful song.
And she wrote it just for you!
You must be a very special person, Craver.
And I'm very disappointed to find that you're not really called Craver!

That sure was a special gift, Lime. It is important to me that my children unequivocally know that I love them.

That was a nice thing to say, Betty. Thank you so much.

Oh Shammy, I am very, very ordinary and not special, even though I have a close friend who says, "You are special and unique... just like everyone else."

We kid each other about pen names, but what I have found to be over-the-top hilarious is when one of my kids starts a sentence like this: ""Dad," if that is your real name..."
