multi reflections with people

multi reflections with people

January 15, 2014

This week's challenge is multi reflections with people, selected by Imac.  Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme: Fishing Guy, Katney, Imac, Lew, and Christine Anne.

But where are my people, you ask?  ...They're in all those buildings, Silly!  This was taken at ten minutes before five PM, and there was barely a soul outside.  This is downtown Saint Louis, Missouri.  The shot was taken from my hotel window with a tripod. I used the tiniest aperture possible and covered the lens with a neutral density filter.  This was a fifteen second exposure, so any moving vehicles disappeared-- they were averaged out!  The colors came out a bit funky, but I restored them back in post processing.  The super-small aperture gives us much more depth of field than I am accustomed to shooting.

I like the idea for this theme, and I wish I had the time to set up some other shots, but between traveling and studying for a presentation, I had to be careful about my priorities.  I hope some of my friends used the other reflection ideas that bounced around in my head!

Nice view of the city; I've never been there and would love to go. Those super-long exposures are fun to experiment with, especially at night (which is your other shot I really like)!

Nice shot. I've been to St Louis, my son lived there for a about a year quite a few years ago.

I think I would like to do this theme again sometime. Maybe in the summer. You and Christine have reminded me of some of the reflection pictures I have on file.
