This tree stands out from the rest of the landscape, and serves as a special landmark on my way home from work. Frequently, it will hold lots of birds, and I have tried numerous times to photograph it while it is full of those birds, but one skittish little freak will scream "fire!" and the rest of them mindlessly panic. I might be left with one or two deaf or dead birds, and then it is not worth the difficulty of finding a place to pull over here..
When the sun is shining low on a clear day, the amber light adds drama to these bare limbs. You will see this tree again, if I can ever get the feathery mob to sit still for me.

I love the way the birds flock together.... I saw about 100 on the hydro wires yesterday, but when I looked at the ground, there must have been twice that number just sitting on the grass at the side of the road. No pics though, as i was driving.
I really do hope we get to see this tree again, full of birds! I'm loving this picture Craver, I have a weakness for trees and that sky is breathtaking. I love when the blue and yellow are showing the way it is in your photo. Awesome!
Have a great weekend mister :)
Hmmm. A smoking tree?I'd ask you what you've been smoking...but I don't think you do that sort of thing!
The sky is very pretty behind that tree.
Smoking Tree?, 1/2 way there my friend. Look for the little men in white coats.lol
Now thats a smokin' pic!
LOL!! Thats the kind of luck I have too Craver but you know what they say "everything comes to those who wait" so I know soon we will see that tree full of birds .... the only problem is it will probably be full of leaves so you cannot SEE the birds. LOL!!
That is one smoking tree, hope it quits doing that long enough for the birds to settle, and you to get a picture.
Craver: Smoking is not good for you or the tree. It will stunt both your growth.
Hydro wires. That's the first time I've heard them called that, Shammy. I think we usually just call them power lines. Thanks for expanding my vocabulary.
It has been a great weekend, Leeloo. It is exciting what we see when we learn to keep our eyes open, isn't it? I'm still learning of course, but it's quite an adventure!
Not me, EG. My days of experimenting with coolness are over. Occasionally my friend and I talk about getting corn cob pipes with cherry tobacco, but it hasn't happened yet.
Hahahaha... Well Imac, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle 1/2 way there. =P
Smokin' is a profound compliment coming from a grillmaster such as yourself, Mr. Dave.
This tree is an enigma Joan. It is perpetually bare, and yet I find it to be a thing of beauty.
Let's hope that the birds settle long enough for me to figure out how to snap a photo, Gaelyn. I'm telling you, these guys are real skittish.
Well Fishing Guy... at 44, the only kind of growth I might get is sideways, but I try to keep my lungs clean anyway.
i like the colour of the sky with the brown of the plants
I remember why I always liked visiting here - you are a funny guy - I mean that nicely. :)
Cherry tobacco - what memories. The Dad of one of my best friends growing up smoked that. I could never stand the smell of cigarettes but his pipe smelled so good.
