More than half of us are sick at the Craver household, so we're going to try to drown it out with hot tea and soup. Yes, even in this heat and humidity, we're having hot liquids. When it comes to illness, we don't mess around. Please pray for my wife. She makes great soup, but she also is not feeling well, and instead of resting, has to take care of the rest of us like a resident physician. We did not sleep well last night, and I can tell by the scratchiness in my throat, that this particular bug is going to affect our voices. (Mrs. Craver sings.).
This Cicada was between the outer doors at church. I slid a sheet of white paper under it, and after making a mad fuss, it stayed on the white paper for me. Wasn't that nice? I got down on my belly and took its picture before lifting it by the paper and releasing it outside.

I hope you are all getting better!
I wish I had been there to see you take the photo of this critter. :)
I've been hearing a lot of these in the mornings lately!!
I do hope you all are feeling better real soon.
And here I thought you ate the bug. LOL
Hope everybody is feeling better real soon. And please help Mrs. Craver out. It's really not fair when the family gets sick that Mom still has to do the Mom things.
Oh EG, I find myself doing the strangest things as I try to find a good perspective or creep up on a shy animal. Saturday, I crawled over several yards (meters) of wet grass, but the heron got spooked before I had a chance to fire off any shots. Camera shots, that is.
They're everywhere, Happyone! I have tried to look for them in the trees, but haven't found them that way... yet.
No Gaelyn; Mrs. C won't let me eat any bugs.
You're absolutely right about helping her out. Aside from making her special "get well soup," I'm going to make sure she rests tonight. No work for her, but maybe we'll watch a DVD tonight.
Craver: Very neat shots of the little bug.
Hope you all get well soon at the Craver house.
A good remedy - Butter, sugar, vinegar, all mixed together. 3 tea spoon full 3 times a day.
An old wives tale but works.
I hope your entire family is feeling better soon. You got a great macro of the cicada. I don't think I would have thought of using a sheet of paper as a background.
I hope you didn;t give it a sore throat and the sniffles. There's nothing worse than a cicada with a bad cold.
Praying 4 you all!
The nice thing Fishing Guy, is that a cicada will just sit still for you and let you fiddle with the camera settings. He moved a little when we put the flashlight down near him, but not much.
Vinegar?! Yuck! I can't stand vinegar, Imac. I'd rather someone just take me out back and put me out of my misery.
George, it would have been better in daylight. I was hoping for a pic like they use for selling stuff on the internet. The late night meant I had to use a flashlight, and so I have some shadows.
Maybe then Shammy, we could get some peace and quiet around here. ;-)
That would be excellent, Mommanator.
ugh, so sorry to hear you're all under the weather. hope everyone feels better soon.
O I hope the Craver family is feeling better! Never fun to be sick, especially during the summer months.
I find this picture very special, because I hear cicadas all the time but I've never seen one, ever. Awesome shot Craver, very nice detail :)
