There was another picture taken of this WW1 machine gunner, but the museum was not designed specifically for photography, so there were difficult glares off the figures and strong lights in the background. But I hovered around, bending and crouching until I finally found an angle I was happy with.

This last shot was taken by Mrs. Craver. I could kick myself for skipping the only statue of a soldier from the Revolutionary War. Happy Independence Day to my fellow countrymen. And to our friends from across the pond, no hard feelings?

Nice photographs. It is good to see what our country has gone through.
you're welcome to keep the USA, we got to keep the beautiful land of Canada! Happy Canada Day on July 1!
War is ugly, Imac. But the museum had lots of interesting pieces to try to photograph.
And a happy 4th to you as well, Sandman! Thanks be to God for the freedoms we enjoy, but especially for freedom to know and worship the living God.
Oh, history is so important, Flutietootie. Thanks for visiting!
Hahaha... Yes Shammy, Canada IS a beautiful land! It would be quite a treat to travel up there some day and visit for a while. You are very fortunate to call it your home. Happy Canada Day!
That's what I kept telling people the first 20 years I lived in the US, no hard feelings ;) Of course, I stepped off the boat so to speak, in the Bicentennial year, so put up with a lot of good-natured ribbing.
Craver: Those are neat shots of museum trip.
JULY 1: Happy CANADA Day, Craver and Mrs Craver and all the little Cravers! You may not be aware that it's Canada's 144th birthday today, and Will and Kate are in Ottawa to help us celebrate. Actually, we don't need help, but it's great to have them here!
What a year to come to America, Denise! The celebrations in 1776 were so big that we practically turned the whole year into a holiday.
Thank you, Fishing Guy. My whole family has appreciated those museum trips a lot.
I already greeted my Canadian coworker with a hearty "Happy Canada Day!" Shammy, that is really special to have Will and Kate for your celebrations. The young couple seems to be very well liked.
Excellent... Looks like you got a lot of fun ;-)
Happy 4th of July to you and your family! Enjoy the fireworks. And don't get sunburned.
