.
There was lots of shoveling on Friday and Saturday. Sunday was time to recover, but as I drove around with my wife, I found a few places that I wanted to photograph. I did more than just make mental notes, I talked to Mrs. Craver about it, and got some good confirmation that these sites were worthy of another visit. I had the day off of work on Monday. So the plan was that sometime before lunch on Monday, I would drive back to two or three of these locations with a tripod, and take my sweet time to capture a few snowy landscapes..
But that night, Jack Frost skipped town and the temps rose and it rained. And rained. And rained. These were the big, fat, heavy raindrops that normally make beautiful music on the rooftops. Not this time. We both lay there with eyes wide open, expressing concern over how much our beautiful snowscapes might change into something that was not quite the winter wonderland that we were hoping for..
When I looked outside the next morning, I saw that only the heaped snow remained. All of the flat blankets of snow had melted down to the grass. I felt like I had been robbed, my hopes deflated. (sigh) I should have been keeping track of the weather reports..
But... The sadness lasted all of five minutes, because this was my 24th wedding anniversary. Monday for me, was primarily about enjoying my Mrs. Craver and celebrating our life together. And that aspect of the day could not be taken away from us. :-)

Hey If you want some snow come over here, we have tons of it... Got a big storm last night and we got another 40cm... Chasing owl today, I had sometime snow well above the knee ;-)
Ahhh....Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Craver. You both are so very blessed to have each other and the love that envelopes you.
I'm sorry that the heavy rain robbed you of your photo opts, but I feel that since you took notes of where you wanted to photograph...and knowing that winter is still upon you (I can't say 'us' 'cause we just don't have it...sigh)...but knowing the combination, I would bet that Craver and camera will be baaaaack.
Hugs and love to both you and Mrs. Craver,
Jackie
Happy Anniversary! It's neat that you were able to spend the day with your bride.
If I remember Chicago weather correctly, you are likely to have at least a couple more opportunities to get those snowy landscapes.
We have not had any snow yet ---
So your piccy looks good my friend, but I hate show when I have to go to work init, lol.
Many congrats to the Cravers houshold.
Celebrated well I guess, how about some pics then?? lol.
yep, we had the same thing happen here.
i'm glad at least you weren't robbed of celebrating your life together, congratulations and happy anniversary. :)
Many congratulations to you both for putting up with each other for twenty four years.... that's marvellous! We had the same rain, it just tipped down and consequently there is no snow on the ground, most unusual for this part of Canada in January! But I'm sure that there is a big snowstorm brewing somewhere and it'll be here in the not so far off future, so keep your camera and your location list handy!
Your owl pics are impressive, Chris! Remember, I offered to trade our weather for a few weeks.
So true Jackie; we are blessed. Yup, I'll keep looking for those photo opportunities. Does it sound strange that I appreciate e-hugs from web friends? Oh well... so be it. Thanks for the hugs! :-)
More snow? I sure hope so, George. It seems hardly worth it to bear with the cold and not get any snow. I might post a snowy pic that was taken from our honeymoon in the Poconos. It's great to spend time with my gal.
Snow can wreak havoc on commuters; that's for sure, Imac. I did not take any pics of us this time, sorry.
Thank you, Lime. Even though the snow melted, it was a very good day.
"Putting up with each other?" What makes you think I was ever anything but easy, Shammy? I have always been tidy, understanding, and helpful. I never wasted anything, never snored and in the morning, my breath smells like pine trees. (Gee, I hope she doesn't read this.)
I'd like to have one big snow of a foot or more once a year and then that's it. If it is going to snow let it snow. I can do without this inch or two that just makes things messy.
Congratulations on your anniversary. Ours is coming up this Sunday. 40 years!!!
ahh, happy belated anniversary!
how did i miss this post?
that snowy photo is really stunning btw.
Oh Craver, you r4eally make me laugh!
40 years? CONGRATULATIONS Happyone!! That's fantastic! May your celebration be filled with every conceivable blessing.
Did you like that pic, Betty? It was a quick shot, and I was concerned that I couldn't get enough of the snow... movement can make a real difference on our visual perception.
Shammy: (hug) :-)
