This time, it's a street photography technique called "shooting from the hip." Basically, you guess your presets, and holding the camera in the most discreet way possible, you sneak pictures of people unawares. It is terribly inefficient, and most of your pics will be throwaways, but occasionally you'll find you captured an amazingly candid gem. The genuine, unposed expressions I have seen from street photographers have inspired me to give it a try. I just used my 18-55mm kit lens, but here are some samples of what I caught.

Hello, Happyone! It's kind of fun, actually. As I said, the method means that you'll have to throw away a higher percentage of your shots, but if you take enough, you may end up with some really, really neat pics.
Heh, heh. Kiwi, my friends and I used to write stores together by adding one sentence and passing the notebook to the next guy. We came up with the goofiest material that way. Good times.
Shammy, I do not know whether they knew each other before the game, but the gent with the lighter complexion and awesome moustache is a good friend. This is one of the FEW times anyone has EVER caught him without a coffee in his hands. (lol) That's become his trademark. He carries a coffee in one hand and a notebook for prayers in the other. He is unassuming and meek, but a mighty prayer warrior for sure. I liked how the angles worked to bring the focus to a certain point in these pics, but especially that one.
Neat work my friend,, Gdet a 300mm lens and you can shoot straight at them, without them knowing lol.

I do have a 300mm zoom Imac, but it's not auto-focus, and I got tired of lots of blurry pics, so I hardly ever use it any more. Yes, that's lazy of me. I really should stay with it until I have it mastered. You know what I would rather have? A really good prime lens. Maybe 50mm.
Don't worry, Shammy. Only 1 in 50 of my face-to-face friends reads my blog. He'll never see it. :-)
