Today's header is looking down an actual mine shaft. This was part of the exhibit at the Galena and Grant Museum in Galena, Illinois.

| That worked out nicely that they built the museum on top of the entrance to the mine. |

| This was as far as we could go. Just a little room with an overlook, but I could reach over to snap a pic. |

| The ore mined from that shaft. Galena is the main ore of lead. |

Oh, my. Everyone's post is reminding me of underground shots I have taken. We rode through a mine in Alaska.

Well, the pic you snapped is great; I love the perspective. I didn't realize this was close to home; we'll have to plan a trip to Galena!
