underground

underground

June 18, 2014

This week's challenge selection is undergound by Lew.  Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme: Fishing Guy, Katney, Imac, Lew, and Christine Anne.

Today's header is looking down an actual mine shaft.  This was part of the exhibit at the Galena and Grant Museum in Galena, Illinois.

That worked out nicely that they built the museum on top of the entrance to the mine.

This was as far as we could go.  Just a little room with an overlook, but I could reach over to snap a pic.

The ore mined from that shaft.  Galena is the main ore of lead.

Nice shot! But a hard place to have worked back in mining by hand days.

Oh, my. Everyone's post is reminding me of underground shots I have taken. We rode through a mine in Alaska.

Great shot. Don't think I could be a miner. I like the sun too much. : )

You got a neat photo for your header. I'm glad I wasn't a miner back then.

Well, the pic you snapped is great; I love the perspective. I didn't realize this was close to home; we'll have to plan a trip to Galena!
