street performers

street performers

October 8, 2014

This week's challenge selection is street performers by Imac.  Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme: Fishing Guy, Katney, Imac, Lew, and Christine Anne.

First of all, welcome back to Señor Imac, who has just returned from doing hard time in Sing Sing. Yes, I know he said he was "on holiday," but I like to use my imagination to revise historical events when someone goes away for three weeks. Anyhoo, I'm glad he's back.

What image comes to your mind when you think of street performers? My mind goes immediately to a musician playing tunes downtown with his hat on the ground for collecting tips. I hope some of my headbanger compadres caught images like that, but I have no desire to drive into Chicago, scouring the streets, hoping to find such an image. The cost of gasoline and parking make such a venture too pricey for me. I thought I'd be washed out from this week's theme, but then... Bolingbrook had a parade! We had a host of performances in our street--all at the same time!! And it was a nice day for it, too.

This flag squad was the best. It's not so easy for the groups to do this in perfect synch.

I like the straight lines and geometry of the Bolingbrook HS Marching Band.

The Romeoville HS Marching Band was excellent, too!

Dig the can-do attitude of this Junior-higher!

Play that funky music!

Clowns give me nightmares.

Wow, these kids were outstanding!

Gravity forbids that I ever attempt a thing such as this.

This little car was a crowd favorite.

For my header, I selected a closely cropped photo of a colorful musician on the drum instructor's float.

Excellent take on the theme. I wouldn't have thought of it, and had to go outside the box for mine, too, just to fit in the header. I had plenty of street performers from our days in London, but they were all in the wrong configuration to crop for a header space.

You got some great shots from the parade! I love the clarinetist, and the acrobats. :)

Great pictures. So typically American with the marching bands. yes we have marching bands here too, but they tend to involve bagpipes more! And a street parade is so much fun, wherever it takes place.
