This week's header is of a very shy cat. She's fine on top of the stack of kitty-carriers, but she'd rather I keep my distance. I liked these cat pics a lot, because the dim room gave me an opportunity to be creative with off-camera flash & manual focus.

| Here's how I did the quarter: The technique is called "axial lighting." I shot through angled glass, and the side light shone on the face of the quarter by reflecting off the angled glass. |

Got a lot more gear than I have - me ol buddy.
Neat shots too
I used a focusing rail, a macro spacer ring and a reverse ring so that I could mount the lens backwards.
But that lens is an old used Sears lens that I bought for ten bucks. The glass was from a picture frame, and I used a sheet of facial tissue to diffuse the light.
The more components we add, the more difficult it is to make everything work together. But the macro dime I shot some months ago had a lot more noise than this.
The cats do like the high places! Nice work with the light setup and excellent image of the coin!
Much more effort than I will ever take.
I am to take pictures at a Father Daughter dance in a few weeks. I've been thinking of lighting, and you know my equipment is much more limited than yours. I will want to play with the setting and lighting before the dance starts.

Wow, that last shot is way too technical for me! You have a great understanding of light, Craver. Love all your images this week, and how you portrayed that kitty.
I like your photo interpretations of the theme. I'll bet the cat was happy to see you finish up.

These two are ours, Shammie. Technically, we have two cats and one dog, but you will often find one more of each because we foster them until they find homes. Oh, look... I found your question mark. Here it is:
