twenty somethings

Twenty years is not a long time to be married. It's like they say: "Time flies when you're having fun." Mrs. Craver and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday.

.

The conversations with the men goes something like this: "Craver, I hope you remembered." I did. "Good."

.

But the ladies ask about all the details. "Did you sprinkle flower petals all over the floor? Did you rent a yacht? Did you make a sappy poem and then cry as you read it to her?"

.

Okay, nobody really said that, but I felt like some people were asking sensible questions, and others were projecting their own standards on my marriage. A couple times, I felt a little creeped out and intruded upon, but at the end of the day, I go home to my beloved.

.

The big day. We were planning to go out for the evening, but had to change our plans. That's okay. I love her; she loves me, and after 20 years, we're still just getting started...

My Dear Hubby,

20 years ago, I fell in love with a man who loved the Lord. 20 years later, I'm in love with a man who is deeply in love with the Lord. Happy Anniversary! Our Sweet Lord Jesus, you, me, the kids . . . we got a great thing going on!!

Don't let them creep you out by their own suggestions in what they would want happen to them. You know what I like and you gave me a priceless gift that will be enjoyed and cherished for the rest of my life and that I can look at from time to time! Thank you that I am able to pass this down to our children! Thank you! It's better than ANY suggestion anyone could give!

Yes, yes, I love you, you love me, (singing) we're a happy fam . . . oh, sorry, got carried away there for a moment.

So, McD's this weekend? ;-)

Yo, Wifey... How YOU doin?

Mickey-D's? It's not the cuisine, it's the company. We'll go anywhere you like! Just... let's not sing the Barney song, 'kay?

Sandman. Gracias!

And hooray for NaNcY, too! Okay, pay attention people... Do you see how she spelled it? "Yea" (pronounced like hooray). When we write "yeah," it's slang for yes, and sounds like crab. The Lord bless linguistic purists everywhere!

Oh, and thanks, NaNcY. :-)

Tree people, imac? When were my children across the pond? Just kidding... they don't climb trees like I used to. This weekend, I did not take any pictures of people in trees, but I caught the sun AND the moon resting in trees... but not at the same time.

I said "but" twice in that last sentence. (giggle) Ahem! Did I just giggle?!

(Change the subject!)

This picture was the subject of a small controversy. The folks at the photo center did not want to release the print to me because they thought it looked "professional" and therefore, copyright protected. I had to prove to them that I took the picture myself. Had it not been such a hassle, it would have been a nice compliment.

Yes, my original pictures are copyright protected... but not from myself!

Dear Mrs Craver,

I'd say you and The Old Man won the jackpot of life.

From the bottom of my heart, God bless you both and the Craverlets.

Happy Anniversary to you both!!

(My husband and I ate at a Taco Bell on our honeymoon...right along the coast. When we still lived nearby, we ate their for our anniversary on occasion, which always brought the inevitable -- "You're eating WHERE for your anniversary??" How and where you celebrate is sacred to you and your bride. Nobody else's business, IMO.)

Can Mrs. Craver get a blog, too? I love reading her comments - what an absolutely precious woman you caught!

Happy Anniversary. I love seeing examples of your kind of marriage. It provides such hope and encouragement to those of us on the other end of the spectrum (in a world where there aren't many such examples!)

I love how you are just getting started at 20 years. That's how I feel with Ornery--well, except we are just getting started at 28 years.

And, I concur with the last comment about Mrs. Craver getting a blog. I'd love to get to know her. And then, we can all gang up on Mrs Authorblog...

You know, when I clicked on the picture of the ring just now by mistake, and saw it in a larger photo, it made me say in my mind:

"One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them,..."

That ring doesn't make you invisible does it?

Craver Vii said...

Thanks, if you noticed the picture of the ring. There's a story behind it, and since David McMahon has already asked, I plan to divulge highlights of that scandal on a later post.

It is a powerful ring, Sandman. I don't fully know its "magic," but there is a sharp pain on the back of my head if I try to take it off.

There's almost seventy years of marriage between the Cravers, Stacy and Ornery's Wife! Would you two agree that love is better as it matures?

Friends, thank-you for the congratulatory remarks and blessings. Bolingbrook's sub-zero temeratures are a little less cold because of your warmth!

Llama Momma has an excellent point. There are some things that are going to have a unique and special significance. (It's not really McDonald's.)

Sorry folks, but I can't let Mrs. Craver have her own blog. She might say what I'm REALLY like at home. ;-)

Just kidding. (Halfmom, if you're reading this, please don't hit me for that last comment.)

My kind of marriage, Spaghettipie, is no fairytale. Mrs. Craver is subjected non-stop to my third-grade humor. She is made to hear the same stories and jokes over and over again, and it's a wonder that she hasn't sued me for torturing her with tackiness. But you're right... she is a precious woman indeed!

I agree - Mrs Craver's the best!!! You so lucked up dude!

And you're forgiven by not appearing the mass whatever that has hit my blog - You should, however, check out the comment by our Dianne towards the end when you get a chance - she did a thoroughly nice job!!!!

Wow! 20 years? At only 16 years I guess I'm a lightweight. Congrats, man!

Craver & Mrs Craver

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

Twenty years together is truly something to celebrate.

Care to offer any sage advice to your blogging audience?

Thank you all for your kind and wonderful words! I really do take them to heart!

It's been quite a ride so far and it's only been 20 years and to echo what Craver said earlier, we HAVE only just begun. In fact, each time our anniversary comes around, it's a whole new year of learning about each other in a different way. God is great that way, isn't He?

I've also realized that going through the tough times makes you appreciate the great times all the more, y'no?

Blessings to you!

Lin said...

Craver, many good wishes for the coming 40th, too! I know you two will be as together and as in love then as you are now. That's something to be thankful for and proud of.

Congratulations on attaining 20 years of wedded bliss. But 20 is only a number... a nice round number... staying married and in love is a feat in itself, no matter what the number. Well done! And keep on loving each other, it's so important.

Craver Vii said...

Thanks Rachel, Lee Shelton, Lin and Shammy. You guys are so different from each other, but each SO cool, you know that?

And Cuckoo, I humbly express my deep appreciation for such a lovely sentiment. When I read your blogs, I wonder how much of the content is personal and visit, but sometimes withhold a comment for fear of treading on somebody's feelings. I visit frequently, and wish for you every happiness in the world.
