enough already

As I shoveled the driveway this morning, I noticed how great the snow packs. That's great for making snowmen. The way the trees and bushes have big o'l clumps of white all over is very pretty...

.

But it's heavy; I'm tired of digging out. This picture was taken a couple weeks ago, but if they parked on the street again, they'll be in the same predicament today.

.

Instead of enjoying the beauty, I find myself contemplating the weight on the branches and all the expense and damage it brings.

.

This post is more down and gloomy than what I usually write. Did I bring you down to my level? Good. Pass the hot cocoa, and tell me your sad tales. We'll allow a little whining just this once. ;-)

Oh, Craver. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!

I don't usually complain about weather because people tease me about being a California girl...but enough already!!

Right now I'm kicking myself for not bringing my camera with me to work. My coworkers, because they know I'm a new shutterbug, have been coming to my desk, asking if I have seen this tree or that view outside. I took a look, and here's what I saw:

The sky has cleared up and the bright sun is shining on all this gorgeous, thick, cottony snow that's covering each and every beautiful tree branch. I could take a picture of a small tree out front, with this magnificent blue background... but I have no camera today.

No Llama Momma. People tease you because they love you, despite your unfortunate origin. ;-)

You know what, David? With every election season, Australia becomes more and more alluring.

No global warming this year, eh.

How much snow have you accumulated so far Craver? Just wondering.

As of last night Sandman, we were at 45 inches. I don't know if that's for the calendar year or season. Compare that to our average, which is 27 inches.

I am not exactly sure how much fell last night though, just that it had a high moisture content and was heavy to shovel.

Two weeks in a row we had tornadoes (one touching down right by Wes job). The next week we had a snowstorm, and then the week after that (last week), we had a nasty ice storm. I keep wondering what this week will bring. By the way, the ice storm wound up splitting that really cool tree by the parking lot...the one that you took a few pics of (and one of them was reddish...we called the tree Morgog). So only half the tree is left now.

I can't wait until this is a thing of the past for us.

Congratulations on your 100th post, Kathryn! Hang in there; spring will be here soon enough.

Mrrr, that poor tree had a trunk that was so damaged that I'm surprised that you weren't left with a stump. I like to imagine that tree before disease or insects or whatever gutted part of it. It must have been quite majestic and dignified. I have the picture you're talking about on Flickr. If it were up to me, I would cut it down now, and plant a new one.

I like the new look on your blog, by the way. A fresh post might be nice. Maybe with a picture of your newest pet. I can't remember its name, sorry. Wafer? Biscuit? Oh! Don't tell me; I got it!... WAFFLE!

Oh, Craver, I guess this would be a bad time to tell you about taking my kids out on the Guadalupe River in the kayak this weekend...

We've missed every Wednesday events for the last 4 weeks due to storms...and the last 2 weekends. Another one today and more on the weekend.

It would be nice if it switched days every once in a while!
