I've talked before about minding the words that come out of our mouths, and how it's easier to let them out, than take them back. I should have taken my own advice. My last post came across as troublesome and offensive instead of funny. My words didn't taste as good when I had to take them back. Yes, I'm a hypocrite. I should have tested my joke in private to see if he thought it would be funny before putting it on the web for public viewing. Sorry.

toothpaste
First, you have them squeeze all the toothpaste out of the tubes. That's the easy part. Then, you ask them to put it all back in. Not so easy...

I love the toothpaste analogy. We've used it with our kids before.
Just so you know, anyone who reads your blog on a regular basis knows the type of person and Christian you are. Therefore, when I read what you wrote, I did take it as humorous. Frustrated, but still with your humor in tact. I guess the other person doesn't know you as well, at least on here? Not sure. But I guess that's the danger of the written word: tone of voice, facial expressions, body language are not there to read, so more can be inferred. Taking what you wrote into the whole of what you have written, though.... no apologies necessary in my opinion. It stayed light until the end there. ;)
boy, it sure would be good to be able to suck some words back in that have left my mouth...for sure.

i have to admit that i did not get the jest of it...the humor that is.
but, sometimes ya just gotta be there to get it. frustration can sometimes be relieved with humor. and sometimes it can be funny.

I think it's not only a good analogy for how we say things, but also how we [i]post in response[/i] to those who say things. A lesson for ALL involved.
And for the record, I'm lame. I used brackets rather than <> for the html. I just got off a site that uses brackets. Can the toothpaste analogy be used for that? I can type things out (pushing out toothpaste) but not have the ability to edit my lameness (put it back in)?
Don't you just love it when a stranger stops by your blog on the day you have to write an apology? =] (that has happened to me before, too.) Just wanted to say I loved the analogy, and I need to put away a little more toothpaste than I would like, as well. Soooooo thankful for God's grace and forgiveness! I don't know what happened...but yea.. words are like arrows in a quiver & we must use them with caution...once shot they cannot be taken back...
But apologies are a redeeming factor!
