feeling unwell

I'm just a little unwell...

.

I only slept an hour or two last night. Quality, not quantity, right? Yeah, right! I got out of bed and I was writhing in pain for about five hours. There is no diagnosis, as I have not seen a doctor. Probably gas. We think that's what it was three years ago when I thought I was having a heart attack. This time, I was sure we were going to discover cancer or maybe a ruptured spleen. Oh, there were all kinds of scenarios playing in my head. At the end of every one, I was sure that if I stayed home I would die, but if I went to the hospital, I would not get past the waiting room for hours, and after a day or two of mostly waiting, they would send me home, telling me that it is not serious, but then hand me a serious bill for thousands of dollars. Nope; I'd rather just die at home, thank you!

.

But I'm fine now, so my best guess is that I experienced a psychosomatic onset of a sympathetic condition. The symptoms were my own, and the pain was real, but I was concerned about a few people who have been under the weather. That, plus some other things have been weighing heavy on my heart.

.

(ahem) Or maybe it was nothing more than acute gastrointestinal discomfort. I'm so embarrassed for imagining that it was a worst case scenario.

Wes always tries to convince me it's a tumor anytime something is wrong with him. All that goes through my mind is "it's not a tumor"...said in a heavy accent. lol

Thinking of worst case scenarios is no fun at all, but I do think paying attention can be helpful because it's our bodies trying to inform us something isn't right (even if it's mild) and something needs to be done to take care it. Imagine if we only thought of the best case scenarios....how many people would not get checked out and could possibly miss out on a very serious diagnosis. This is not to say we should all become hypochondriacs because excessive worry is not healthy. But I do think it's important that we listen to our bodies when it's telling us "hey! Something's not right! Fix it!"

i am glad you are feeling better.

i know that gas can really cause some terrible pain. and you are right about the system of going to a doctor. even with all of the advances and machines and cost, it is still hard to figure out what is going in inside the body.

My friend, ok, but if that happens again, go to the hospital emergency unit, better to be wrong, feel silly and have a bill than the other choice.
I,m sure your dear wife and family would agree with me on this.

Here we go again conflicting again.lol.

Think about it next time tho eh?.
Good man, my friend.

May the Lord heal you from this, and keep this from ever happening again. Amen.

Not unto us, but unto the Lord be all the glory, because He truly deserves it, and is worthy of all glory.

***CRAVER HEALTH UPDATE***

Dad was admitted to the hospital and they discovered he has 4-5 gallstones. He will be having surgery this evening to remove his gall bladder.

Hope you are feeling much better, Craver. There's no way one or two hours of "quality" sleep can make up for the quantity we need! Hope you get the rest you need and may God keep you in good health

-*- CRAVER UPDATE BY MRS CRAVER -*-

Craver had his surgery and it went well. There were 3 gallstones in the bladder itself and one that was lodged in the opening which was the major cause of the pain. Unfortunately he had to stay the night due to very, very high blood pressure. They also want to check the enzymes in his liver. He's in great spirits, cracking jokes here and there, keeping the nursing staff on their toes with laughter, but he is in pain.

Please pray that the blood pressure goes down to where it should be, that the pain will subside, and that he'll be able to go home on Wednesday.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers,
- Mrs Craver

"Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving." Colossians 4:2

"Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name." 1 Chronicles 29:13

Craver,
Don't you know that wearing a lime jello costume day and night for weeks can have a negative affect on your bladder?

I hope you're feeling better buddy!

Gosh, and I wasted all that time calling your house for an update when I should have just looked here.

The gallstones were stuck in the gallbladder or in the urinary bladder?

Let me know what I can do to help. I promise I'm not vomiting anymore so I won't give anyone anything (well, not anything bad)

love you guys!

CRAVER IS AT HOME! He came home on Wednesday evening and is doing well! He'll be giving you his own update soon. Please continue to pray for his blood pressure levels, they are still high but not as high as it was before. And please also pray for much needed rest for both me and Craver.

Thank you all for your prayers! We truly appreciate them!

Susan,
I'm sorry I wasn't clear on that . . . his gall bladder was removed. Thank you for your prayers, sister! I love you too! Feel a hug!
