silver sliver

There is a small bridge on a street near my home. It is easy to drive past it and not notice the scenery, but when the sky is hazy and uninteresting, the light shows off in the reflections. Here, it looks like the stream is liquid mercury. The photo does not do it justice, because the light was so bright all around that I was squinting, and the light was intense, coming from the stream or creek or whatever it is.

.

I was delighted to have captured this, because a local resident looked at the print and said, "Ooh, where's that at?" "Pinecrest," I said. The other person's jaw dropped. Yes, there is a lot of beauty all around us, especially if we train our eyes to find it.

what a lovely scene. so glad you took time to enjoy it and to share.

your title and the description of the water makes me have to share walter de la mare's poem "silver"

Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep
Of doves in a silver-feathered sleep;
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws and a silver eye;
And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.

That's a great poem, Lime; how thoughtful of you to bring that blessing for us today.

I laughed nAncY, when I came up with the title. It is almost a tongue twister, isn't it?

Heh. You and I both struck silver today. Didn't we, Imac?

Friends, when I stood atop that bridge, I could smell the fresh-cut grass below. It has a subtle sweetness, like cucumber. I'm glad I stopped.

It's amazing how people never stop to see the beauty all around them. They think that they have to travel afar to see beauty. They take the simple things for granted

ditto to all, peaceful as the river flows!
Reminds me of Rev 1:1&2

That's a great "SPRING" picture! Amazing what you can see if you only take the time to stop and look.

Even though the Earth is cursed by God, He did leave us much beauty as well. That's His grace.

I watched a Frontline documentary the other night on how they take young girls by the hundreds of thousands and sell them as prostitutes. It was more ugly than anything else I can think of.

And yet, there's beauty in this world, and especially in Christ, when He manifests Himself in His love and grace in the regeneration of a sinner and rebel of God.

This nice photo Craver made me think of all that stuff. Hope it's alright to share a little too much.

I'll just say nice photot next time.

Yup. You got the picture Shoebee and Mommanator. Have a happy Mother's day, you two.

Yes indeed Shammy! Hey, congrats on "Around the Roundabout." Kick your heels up, and take a well-deserved fifteen minutes to relax before jumping into next year's program, will you?

The thoughts you share are always welcome, Sandman. I wonder if that was Gary Haugen's International Justice Mission. That's good stuff. As a father to two daughters, I find that kind of crime especially painful.

I'm glad you liked the photo, but if you'd like to share more thoughts, it is not only allowed, but desirable, Bro.

No it wasn't that ministry Craver. Looks like a dynomite ministry BTW.

It was a secular show: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/slaves/
