A cool, but comfortable breeze came through at night. It was good sleeping weather this evening, but we were not ready for bed yet. Presently, a crackling campfire warmed our shins and faces. Mmmm... toasty. We had extra chairs set up, and every one was filled as friends enjoyed each others' company.
.
A controversy broke out about how to properly roast a marshmallow. One liked it slow and easy... golden brown all over the outside with a gooey center.
.
But another simply thrust it into the flames and immediately charred the entire surface... and liked it that way.
.
How do you like 'em?

i like 'em golden brown then smashed in between 2 graham crackers..mmmm!!
with friends...
I don't like 'em. But. I love to watch the grandsons toast them. The last time they were over and we had a nice fire cooking, we didn't have any marshmallows, but we did have some Easter peeps, and so they toasted them.
Looked horrible to see these small animals been roasted (not really), but the grandsons said they were really good.
They get too hot and then I get my fingers burnt. But I could get used to them.
But I won't be going camping for a long time....
Burnt to a crisp, like that last picture. YUM!!! :)
I like em any ole way! but my blood sugar doesnt!
Guess what, Mr. Dave. I had one just like that.
Well said, nAncY!!
That's funny, Sandman. I'll have to try roasting beeps some time. At least it's less cleanup than microwave peep wars!
So now I have this funny image in my head Shammy, of a person holding the marshmallow in their bare hands, trying to roast the marshmallow. Half the fun is trying to determine when it's the right temp for consumption. Since I was born and raised in Chicago, I really enjoy camping as a diversion from daily life, but I won't try to convince you that you need to go camping.
You are your mother's child, Mrrr! Your treatment of marshmallows is barbaric.
There were a few people who joined us, but didn't eat anything. Mommanator, I wonder if they also need to watch their blood sugar.
i am all about the slow roasted golden brown on the outside/pure goo on the inside. my mom prefers the burnt offerings.
Burnt to a crisp. Charcoled black...UM
Never had any sorry Craver.
Now if you were to mention a Med rare steak, home made chips, onion rings in batter, a huge field mushroom, with a few king prawns .mmmmmmmmm
BUT --- its naughty and I'm on a diet.lol.
OH forgot, and a pint of beer with it all.
Personaly I like them raw!
Hope you are on the mend my friend and feeling fine and dandy (I hope fine and dandy do not mind you feeling them either!)
Have a sooper dooper week!
You're supposed to put the marshmallow on a stick? No wonder.....
Craver: I like them golden brown but catch them on fire way to often.
