almost

There was an adorable chipmunk stretched upward in a lookout position from this tire. When I saw that it was not moving, I became convinced that taking the camera out of the zipped and clasped bag, switching filters from macro +4 to UV & polarized, and laying on the ground for a good angle (still with me?) would not be an exercise in futility. I was wrong. Almost.

.

It moved, and did not return. Blast! Hence this post is about the ones that got away. You know, those frames that you ALMOST had of a cute shot of a toddler, maybe an animal doing something funny, or Elvis having coffee with Jim Morrison? Whether it would have been realistic or sublime, I dedicate this post to you. Go ahead and post your almost pics. I'll understand.

.

Speaking of "almost," what if we had B-rated superheroes because their powers were not quite prime time? I've seen this idea before, and can't help but wonder what kind of powers would set somebody in that almost heroes classification.

.

  • * Being able to find anything that has been misplaced.
  • * Always guessing correctly when given only two options.
  • * Not extra fast or strong, but never tired.
  • * Able to hold one's breath indefinitely.

    .

    Can you think of any?

Now that sure sounds familiar. LOL!! I get shots like this all the time or else I find myself nodding off and when I come around again the critter is sitting 5 yards away laughing at me. :) Love the post of the "Hover crafts" too.

Craver: I actually posted the shot that almost wasn't this week. The chipmunk was on the foxes head and left, but he came back another day for the photo. I have seen one on the top of my truck's tire twice and no photo.
Super power: Able to turn on a dime.

I just did your quiz from the previous post.... my score: one wrong, the one about how many months have 28 days, I just didn't think it out properly!
My "almost" pics have all been deleted, I haven't got the patience to try and resurrect them.

I had a chipmunk do the same thing to me yesterday. They DO have a special sense that protects them from being posted on blogs. Yes, really.

My husband believes that after we humans destroy ourselves, the next chosen beings will be the chipmunks. OK, he's only kidding. But chipmunks really are clever!

Hey! Bug Lady! What a sweet treat to have you join us today! Yes Joan, I hear the laughing, too.

Well Fishing Guy, they say great minds think alike. We were thinking alike, so that must also mean we have great minds, right? Yes!! I knew it! (I hope my conclusion is not analyzed by anyone who has actually studied logic. Any comment suggesting the fallacy of hasty generalization will be booed and hissed.)

Turning on a dime would be useful in sports, wouldn't it? But you're right; it is no guarantee of induction to the league of superheroes.

I need to delete more pics, Shammy. Mostly, I only delete the ones that are blurry. Good job on that quiz!

EG, I have found some people that seem to have that same special sense. They see me with a camera and fear that I will post their pictures on my blog. Chickens. Anyway, I only post the pictures that turn out well.

"Always ready for that almost picture." You're too funny, nAncY!! Now I have this mental image of a guy who's taking warm candids of the crowds while the pontiff's popemobile drives right in front of him.

That's a good B-power Lime. In fact, a friend suggested something similar. Specifically, she said the hero would be able to finish anybody's sentence.

I asked her to post her ideas on my blog, but she's apparently too cool for us. Next time I offer Piano Lady a cookie from Panera, she better make sure I didn't just pick it up, off the floor. ;-)

HA! Craver, I will know if the cookie has been on the floor. You talking to a cookie connoisseur!

Okay, since you whined and whined that I didn't give you any ideas. How about this one: A superhero who can see into the future, but just far enough out that he can't do anything about it. Just like the times when you see something about to happen, but you only have time to say, "Uh", then BAM! It happens.....

Whined and whined?

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Kimberly, Kimberly, Kimberly. A Craver craves; a whiner whines.

Okay, we'll split the cookies, just so you know they're safe. :-)
