near and far

Bolingbrook is a suburb of Chicago with upwards of 70,000 residents. You can actually see the downtown skyscrapers from here, but it is far enough away, that we still have a little bit of elbow room.

.

This is a construction site on the East side of town. I do not know what they are going to do with this yet, but when you stand close enough, the light posts disappear, and the piles of gravel have the illusion of being bigger and farther away than they really are. I hope these folks are not in a hurry. This spot is fine, just the way it is now.

That's the most unusual and rural looking shot around Bowlingbrook I've ever seen.

That is one cool picture! It looks like sand dunes :)

Gaelyn, a bunch of people here who looked at it assumed it was Scenic Overlook (see link in post), but the overlook is much bigger and obvious and all green. This was something of a hidden gem.

(lol) Only a born and raised Chicagoan would call these construction piles mountains. But you know what, my Mrs. Craver? That's the first thing I thought of, too. :-)

Wendy, I have never seen sand dunes. I have friends who go every year to some sand dunes in Indiana, but I always seem to have something else going on at the time. I wish I could go, at least once.

You know what would be really cool, if it were to snow and it covered the tops of it making it look more like mountains! I hope they don't mess with it until after it snows!

I would never guess that you took this picture in a city. It's absolutely wonderful.

What a great perspective Craver. I had family that lived there too but they sold their house to buy a house on wheels and went traveling. This was back in the early 90's.

if you hadn't told me i would have thought it was a meadow in the foothills of some mountain.

Imac, I went back to that spot and found Monarch butterflies.

Mrs. Craver, that would be especially cool if the snow kissed the tops only. I am interested to see what it is like from the other side of 355. Maybe you and I can take a drive over there.

That's what lured me to the spot, Fishing Guy.

You are right, Rachel Grace. This morning, I was thinking about the blessing that I have a good range of color that I can see. That means more that I can appreciate in God's visible creation.

George, I am playing with the idea of going back and taking another picture showing the surroundings. I don't know if that will help or hurt the context of this image.

Joan, would that be our friend Gaelyn? Are you related or is that someone else? My wife has mentioned how she would like to someday have one of them fancy vehicles, and that we use them for camping.

When I crouch low with my camera Lime, that is exactly what I am looking for.
