someone at the door

Q: What do you get when you cross an Atheist with a Jehovah's Witness?

A: Someone who rings doorbells for no apparent reason.

.

Sometimes I drive home a different way, because I prefer driving through the pretty side streets, rather than the main roads. I found this way because I was picking up Legos from a coworker's house. The architecture and landscaping was nice. It gave a friendly look to the community. Then, I saw one house with the most unusual thing in the yard. First, they had a huge yard. It was actually a separate lot, I think.

.

Anyway, this one had a rail that spanned the width of the yard, and it was lined with thirty or more bird houses. I pulled over and rang the doorbell, hoping someone was home, even though it was still early, and lots of folks would be out at work. The lady gave me permission to walk onto her property and snap some photographs. I wonder what was going on in her head, when I did that. I also wonder if she waited on the other side of the screen door with a double-barrelled shotgun. I know I ain't the prettiest face to find at the door, but I hope I didn't scare her too badly.

This post made me smile in so many ways. That photo is brilliant! Pretty, colorful birdhouses, I would be proud of this collection if it were in my front yard.

Oh I love all the birdhouses and all their pretty colors. When I lived at my old house I hung a whole bunch of them in the back trees. Not nearly as that many though.

Craver: A very colorful setting, wonder why the yard wasn't filled with birds.

Yes, well your visits make me smile, Denise. Thank you for your encouraging words.

I could use a few birdhouses in my yard Happyone. First, I need to disassemble the rusty old swing set.

These were neither striped, nor spotted. Just kidding, Imac. Thanks!

George, it makes me want to take a different way home every day. :-)

Lime, I psyched myself up for it, predetermined to accept her answer, even if it meant missing the photo op. I'm glad she showed kindness. I think I'll make prints from two or three of the images and drop them off with a sticky note that just says, "Thanks."

It was too nice a day to be stuck indoors, Fishing Guy. (Actually, I was wondering the same thing.)

I like these birdhouses Craver!

I'm sure the owner thought you were such a nice guy to ring and ask before taking the photos. :)

LOL!! Love your joke Craver!! I wonder what happened to the Jehova Witnesses as I never see them around any more. Maybe crossed them with ghosts so we cant see them? LOL!!

What a neat idea it is with those birdhouses. I wonder if they were selling them and if they are occupied in the summer?

I am so going to do this next summer! I have the room and it's such a pretty sight. Then I want an old door like an entry into the forest and a stained glass window hanging in a tree.

I've been blog hopping. Can you tell? So many ideas....
:)
Dropping off a couple of pictures is a sweet idea!

Such a creative way to display ones hobby. She must get asked about photo ops occasionally. This is Very Fun Craver.

LOL Craver I'm sure she wasn't scared but flattered that a stranger would find her birdhouses interesting enough to come take a picture :P
And you know what? I would've done the same :) I LOVE that shot.

Maybe, EG. I hope the finished prints put a smile on her face.

It was a great find, Mommanator.

I had a JW friend who visited regularly Joan. I love discussing theology. After a while though, they gave up trying to convert me.

If I have a chance to talk to her when dropping off the pics, maybe I'll ask about the birds.

The door and window idea sounds fun, Carletta! I like it!!

All she said about them Gaelyn, was that it was her sister's doing.

Except that if someone came to your door Wendy, they wouldn't find you because you'd be under an osprey nest in the middle of nowhere. ;-)

Nice joke bro.

I had quite the debate with a couple JW's last Saturday. We went at it with Scripture, and argued the deity of Jesus.
I showed them one Scripture verse that they tried to understand in order to fit their thinking of Jesus being a created being, and not God.

"For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, JUST AS they honor the Father." John 5:21-23

I asked them if any man could say this?
"No."
Then Jesus is divine, and equal to the Father.
They said, "No."

And so we left it there, sort of.

Nice photograph Craver. I love the colors.

I enjoy a good discussion too Craver but the problem is too many people become argumentative.

No need to go and ask, I just thought you might know as they are questions I would have asked if I were you. :).
