clicking with confidence

Landscapes, macro, portraits, still life, etc. It seems that most photographers can be identified in one primary style, even if they do all kinds of other stuff. I do not yet have a niche category that I specialize in. It depends on who you talk to, right now you might classify me somewhere between a clueless dabbler and a wishful perpetrator. Wherever I end up, my biggest challenge has been taking pictures of people. One way or another, the light was always working against me. Meh, who needs light, anyway! (kidding)

.

When my Pentax went belly-up last week, I borrowed a friend's Canon and spent two days with them, their daughter, and my wife. Mrs. Craver suggested this pose, and helped with the reflector/diffuser, and makeup. I barely did anything, but keep on pushing the shutter release! The young lady was a fun model, and so easy to work with! All things considered, the indimidation factor was nullified, and I am pleased with the results.

This is a wonderful portrait. You (and your wife) did a great job with this one.

She is indeed, Happyone. A lady of virtue as well.

That's a lovely compliment, Rachel Grace. You have such a kind and caring heart, my sister.

The higher compliment is to be called your good friend, Sandman! Thanks. :-)

Shammy, she took lots and lots of great pics. I had some fun with her, because I kept snapping away, even when she was yawning or clowning around. In the end, I compiled a collage of funny faces.

Thanks George. I have learned that it is wise to give special attention to what my wife says.

Exceedingly good my friend, always take advice from a lady, but its the photographer who takes the photo.

Yes, that is certainly true Imac. But my I.Q. and common sense both took a quantum leap when I released ego and self-sufficiency and began to honestly listen to my wife and treat her more like an ally. I try not to compete with her and find that I enjoy it much more (and now I don't lose as often).

Do you know what is especially nice, Denise? She has an easy disposition, where she is comfortable in her own skin, so that she can pose with confidence, and yet I find here to be unpretentious, modest and warm-hearted.

Very kind comments Betty. Thank you.

Oh, but I am drawn to gadgets and gizmos, Lime. I like to see how a thing is set apart by adding something special. Unfortunately, I do not have formal training, and most of my experiments are disastrous, but that's just how I'm wired.
