Blue Monday

Today is Blue Monday. It is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year.

.

Let's see... I ache all over. It feels like an elk performed Riverdance on my back while I slept. But that's because I was ambitious about moving stage furniture on Saturday. My dog woke me up in the middle of the night three times on Saturday night, but since then, we seem to be back to normal. I don't know... it doesn't feel any different than any other day... maybe I'm not celebrating it the right way. ;-)

.

Clinical depression is a whole other matter, and I dare not make light of that. But this Blue Monday business... Pish posh! Today is what you make of it. And every day is a gift from the Lord.

I'm sitting in the living room in the sunshine doing a counted cross stitch and quite happy today. : ) So much for Blue Monday!

It's a cold, gray day here in Tennessee but I'm trying to take to heart your comment about each day being a gift from the Lord.

Very gentle day Monday - slept till 10am, showered and went to town to change my book from WH Smiths - that DW gave me(as I had read this one) - then had lunch - got my hair cut, and went home. Lazy day - but work tomorrow.

Good for you, Happyone! Happy Monday!

May I prescribe a mug of hot cocoa, George? Prep a mug for Betsy, too. May the Lord smile upon you today, my friend.

Oh Imac, that sounds GREAT! Did you know that today is a national holiday in the United States? Today, we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday.

Blue Monday? Never heard of it before. And I don't have time to feel "blue".... too busy helping out with twin grandbabies, taking the grandtoddler to Tot Spot to play, and eating chocolate left over from Christmas.... what could be better?
Happy MLK Day. Although the actual day was a sad one. But I expect you are happy to have a day off.

Moving stage furniture?
OK... you can't just leave us with that. Are you performing?
I agree with you about Mondays.
Every day is Saturday to me....so, what is "Monday" ...:)))
I thank God for each day....each gift. I count my blogging friends among my gifts. Continued smiles to you, my friend.

It was new to me too, Shammy. "Most depressing day of the year?" Not for me, thank you very much.

Mr. Dave, one of my coworkers brought lemon meringue pie to share, so it was a happy Monday for me, too. It was like a piece of sunshine on a dessert plate!

Aww, there's nothing exciting to tell, Jackie. I was moving stuff around at church, now that the special Christmas platforms are not needed. They're bulky and heavy, and I took the time to move them, but didn't have another man to help me lift stuff. I'm fine now, though.

Seeing that it already had a lot of coverage Lime, I decided to take the road less traveled. I like that you decided to post some of his quotes that are less frequently repeated. He was an imperfect man, so I may not agree with some of his positions, but he made some remarkable contributions to society.

Good thought Craver.

I know if I had to be depressed for the rest of my life, and that would be very difficult, that would not compare to an eternity of joy, without any sadness whatsoever, which is what I have coming my way, because of Jesus' frre gift of salvation. What a Man He was, and is. And hwta God He is and will always be.

here's a short song on Blue Monday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En-PZIvzO64

Check out Fats' rings. Wow.

I hope it was a productive time, Betty. That's the nice thing about blogs though, isn't it? We never have to dust or clean for visitors. ;-)

Yesss!! There will be no depression in heaven, Sandman. Woo-hoo!! I have known people who struggle with chronic depression. It's not always a Monday thing. I hope I can be an encouragement to people who need to hear a good word.
