the other side

the other side

August 6, 2014

This week's challenge selection is the other side by Kathy.  Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme: Fishing Guy, Katney, Imac, Lew, and Christine Anne.

I thought I'd explore what it looks like on the other side of the camera.  So, I set one up for a macro, then I set another one up on a tripod, manually focused on the face of the lens and triggered it with a wireless remote.

I also showed what it looks like from behind the simple hide I constructed for birding. It's a cheap remnant of black cloth, duct taped to the back door, with an asterisk cut to poke the lens hood through.  This way, if I sit patiently, I can catch birds coming to the feeder at the edge of my deck.

If that lens looks odd, it's because I reversed it, showing the other side.  A reversed lens is a hack to get closer for macro photography.

the other side of... me!  So this is what I look like, eh?

this is what I was looking at in the selfie

Nicely done and a self portrait! And a nice capture of the inner workings of a lens. I tried a selfie of the back of my camera with mirrors - just could not get the mirrors aligned properly.
