bananas foster

What would you like at this very moment? Any intense cravings? Right now, I wish I could have (or make) Bananas Foster. And do you know what would go good with that? My friend Mary makes the very best decaf coffee I have ever tasted. She says the trick is not to be skimpy with the grounds. Mmmm...

.

There is so much fun to the preparation of Bananas Foster. The problem for me is that we don't have any dark rum in our home. Have you ever tried this dessert? Paula adds pound cake, but I don't. The photo up top is my own, but I thought it would be nice to show a video as well. The following video is by Paula Deen of the Food Network. Bon appetit!

I think Bananas Foster is right up there in my top faves. We used to go to friends on New Year's Eve where the husband made this as a finale. It was so scrumptious. If I didn't have such a fear of flaming food on top of my stove, I would make this all the time. Perhaps just as well I don't!

If I could Gaelyn, I'd make some for all my blogging buddies!

Ooh... high cholesterol. Mr. Dave, my doctor gave me bad news today.

The flash of fire is big and hot, Denise. I'm not being redundant, calling the flame hot. The blue color indicates a higher temperature than other flames.

That's cute, Rachel Grace. Yes, it's very good.

Imac, these food cravings will pass. The big seven (cravings) are the real deal. Still... that IS a catch title...

I've often heard of Bananas Foster, but have never had any. Could I come up there and have some of your rum-less version?

It sounds very good but I couldn't get the video to work!

George, you bring up an interesting point. One version of what I'm hearing says that the alcohol burns off, and the other version says that there is still some firewater in the mix. I honestly thought I could offer this to guests of all ages without carding them.

That's okay Mommanator. The presentation is half the fun anyway. Step back so you don't burn your eyelashes, dearie.

It is worth googling to see someone prepare it EG. Of course, it is most exciting when you experience it live.

I'm gonna show this to my wife. She may just like making something like this for the holidays.

Thanks Craver.

Have a happy weekend and Advent Sunday; the last one before Christmas!
