That Pennsylvania mountain snow was glorious! My wife and I love the snow. A good snow outside makes the fireplace warmer, and even ramps up the experience of a good mug of hot cocoa.Wednesday, January 25, 2012
happy new year
Did I miss it? Yup. Chinese new year was on January 23. Silly me; I was thinking about other things. They call this is the year of the dragon. That sounds like a good excuse to post a dragon pic that I snapped downtown last month at an outdoor Christmas market. I'm wondering... what kind of mind decides that it is appropriate to carve wooden dragons for Christmas? Hmmm...
Mrs. Craver and I did not take pictures of ourselves on our anniversary date this year, but here is one from our honeymoon in the Poconos. I wish I had the photographer's info. He was a guy wandering around with a camera and taking all kinds of pics. If you liked a print, you could buy it from him. We bought about a dozen of his prints.

Happy New Year China!
I like that one Dragon movie: "How to Train Your Dragon."
I watch it with my grandsons. Good flick.
Here's an excerpt, if you haven't seen it Crav.

Happy Belated Anniversary!!
It's a lovely carved dragon but Christmas does seem an odd time to present them. I'm guessing more retail opportunity than might be found on January 23. :)
How did the photographer do that!!
I love the photo, Craver!
I like the picture of you and your wife in the snow on your honeymoon. I hope you had a great anniversary, even if it didn't include snow.
I'm not sure of the connection between the dragon and Christmas, but it is a very beautiful dragon.
what adorable photo of you and your wife on your honeymoon.
i love it!
Kung hei fat choi! I blogged about the Chinese New Year celebrations too. There is a mini baby boom predicted for 2012 as many Chinese families want to have a baby born the auspicious Year of the Dragon!
i never knew you honeymooned in my back yard. or did i and i forgot? it always makes me giggle to think of people coming here for a honeymoon because it's just home. that is a cute picture of you two, what fun. and though the dragon may be odd for christmas it is skillfully done. love the detail on it.
As a matter of fact Sandman, we have seen and LOVE that movie. I want to see it again.
Thank you, Carletta. Our Christkindle Market turned into a German craft show. It was definitely a departure from the original historical intentions. I snapped up a couple pics because I like dragons.
Jackie, here is a Multiple Exposure Tutorial. He used film, so the technique was different, but using a tripod, he masked off part of the lens, then flipped the mask to take a second exposure on the same frame. If you want to try it, I recommend searching the internet with your camera + "multiple exposure," ex: pentax k-x digital multiple exposure. I might try that some time, because right now the fanciest I get is using the collage tool to create multiple exposures.
They had lots of cool dragons George. The tough part was trying to get a shot while a thick crowd moved in front of my view and kept bumping into me. Our anniversary was pleasant and relaxing.
Betty, that little honeymoon album is one of our favorites, especially when we have company over for the first time. If the visitors are married, Mrs. Craver likes to trade stories of how each couple met.
Hey, I actually recognize that phrase Shammy. I have a few Chinese friends that I like to greet that way. When talking about a people group as populous as China, a baby boom is intimidating. :-)
Oh, we have hung out and talked about it a lot, Lime! We all had a great time liming together, but to protect my secret identity, I had to use a neuralizer before we returned home. Your version of "just home" was a beautiful break from our Chicago apartment. I wish we could go back.
You old romantic you,lol.
LOL @ the neuralizer usage. that explains it all. well, let me know if you ever decide to wander back this way. :)
