Header Challenge:volunteers

This week's challenge is volunteers. Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme: Fishing Guy, Katney, Imac and Lew.
The header shot is from our local food and clothing pantry. It is called Seeds of Hope. Presently, we feed an average of 50 families every week. Mrs. Craver and I serve as the directors. Technically, I stepped down from Director this year, but I still serve there every week. My wife has been doing this for about ten years and I am so impressed with how hard-working and organized she is! The part you see is a bread table. We gather around here for prayer and instructions before opening the doors to our community. The guests sign in and walk through several aisles, filling up grocery bags, then they get some fresh bread and/or biscuits right here, and off to the left side of the photo is the place for frozen meat, mains and sides.
If we have enough volunteers, we open the Clothing Room, which is a large classroom that looks like a thrift store. Folks get a few minutes to browse through the smartly arranged racks to pick some clothes for free. All of this is purchased by our church or donated so that it can be given freely to needy people in our community. Some of the donors include Olive Garden, Panera, Chipotle, Longhorn Steakhouse, Famous Dave's, Pizza Hut, and local grocery stores like Meijer, Jewel, Fiesta Market and Food For Less donate grocery bags and produce bags.
The vision and drive that my wife and I have been given would go nowhere without all the volunteers and donors that the Lord has provided!
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'…" Matthew 25:34-36

Very nicely captured Craver, my daughter used to work with a group in Kent that had a food bank.
True volunteers there, giving to the poor and needy.
Many hands make light work. The more volunteers the better, if they are organized and it sounds like your organization is great thanks to your wife. Keep it up.

I'm so happy that you and Chrissy and those who serve in the Seeds of Hope are being the examples that Christ would have you to be.
We have a similar program at our church. We call it The King's Table. We provide food, clothing, and as you are doing with your mission, we provide listening ears, prayers and do what the Lord would have us to do to meet spiritual needs as well. These are life changing services, my dear friend. I'm not surprised that you and Chrissy serve in this capacity. I can tell that you have a heart for the Lord.
