restless and runcible

The Pentax was feeling neglected, so camera in hand, I went to a local park, and meandered around the pond. There were so many geese there, that I thought I would get a good picture of them. Sorry; I was not happy with how those turned out. (Geese are kinda gross when you have to walk where they have walked... especially when there are hundreds like there were at this park.)

Let's see, where was I? Oh, yeah... so I have the camera in my hands, scouring the area with a discerning eye, thinking, "I've gotta shoot something." Hmmm... It's a good thing I did not say that out loud.

I took a picture of these very trees recently, but I like the colors better this time around. That, plus I used a tripod this time. (sigh) I think I got what I came for!

Incidentally, if you pass through my beloved town and feel the urge to skate on or near this pond, be sure to carry rocks in your pockets. Apparently, you can avoid getting in trouble by flinging stones at the authorities. I have no idea how it works, but there it is, in black & white. Punctuation matters, people.

Autumn colors are popping up here and there. They have been for a while, now. I hope you are catching good views of whatever is happening in your own area. Here, we have a red streak down the middle of a row of green. It looks like a question mark, doesn't it?

Speaking of highlights and such, here's a good laugh: I usually cut my own hair. It's easy for us guys to get away with unprofessional scalp mowings. I just use clippers at home, and my wife helps me finish the back after I've already done my part. I noticed tapered attachments in the bin. They were embossed "right ear" and "left ear." Naturally, I assumed that they would be perfectly suited for clipping around those areas, so I used the attachments, and... Whoa!! That was waaaay too short! I didn't mean to lop off so much. Oh well; it'll grow back.

Oh, and talking about trimming and growing back, I need to do something soon with the front yard. If I wait too long, the overgrown bushes, cobwebs and scattered leaves will end up looking like Halloween decorations. Hopefully, I can get out there with the hedge trimmer and edger this weekend.

The camera provides more fun than any other toy I've ever had! Sometimes I try to take pictures as a purist, for realism, and sometimes I look for a way to be creative. Despite the unusual hues, this shot is SOOC (Straight Out Of the Camera). It is absolutely untouched by post-editing.

The big, outside property lights at church were close enough to this tree to give strong light, and they give off an interesting color. I took the pic at 9PM. If I remember correctly, the sun had just gone down. That is taking place faster and faster these days, eh?

The pic was taken, using the camera's twilight setting and a tripod. It was only a little cool but very breezy. Soon, the days (and nights) will be most ideal for casual strolls, taking the scenic route, and then coming home to something warm to drink. When I take those walks, you can be sure I'll have the camera slung over my shoulder!!

The times, they are a-changing!

How sad for people who do not get to experience the change of seasons like this. The drive to and from work every day is just exploding with wild-eyed wonder like this little pond (I stretched the photo wide for effect). I like warm sunny weather alright, but there are also rewards to living a little farther from the equator. The seasons don't fear the reaper. These colors were so glorious I had to pull over and snap a shot or two.

Seasons of change can be exciting. I am considering a change to this blog, and if you have an opinion, I'd like to hear your thoughts. After months of ignoring all this stuff about earning money through blogging, I am starting to think that it may not be a bad idea. How do you feel about that? Do you or would you use your blog to generate additional income?
