Sky Watch Friday!

lunacy

.

The moon seemed a fitting subject this week for several reasons. There have been numerous bizarre phone conversations. I personally, have indulged in an inordinate amount of silliness. Even my camera got in the action with these two renderings of the exact same event. The difference was the push of one button. "Twilight" setting is used to preserve colors in moderate light. "Twilight Plus" is more of the same. The truth is that the sky looked a little like each photo. The moon is more accurate in the first shot, and the clouds are more accurate in the second.

.

My tripod is broken, so I used it like a monopod. Otherwise, I would have experimented with a multiple exposure for a third photograph.

La Luna was beautiful here too this week but I missed it - you captured the clouds and lighting wonderfully. I'm envious!

The moon has been amazing the last couple of nights, but I don't have a camera that can capture it. My kids could not believe how bright it was outside. (In Taiwan, we lived in the city, so the bright lights drowned out any moonlight!) We are loving it, that's for sure!

Well, Craver, you don't seem any loonier than usual. (only kidding...sort of)

I think both photos are wonderful. Did you take those photos today or yesterday? The moon here is waning at the moment but your moon looks pretty big.

I have tried to answer you question on meditation on my post. Not very satisfactory, but I have tried!

Off to Turkey tomorrow for a fortnight's sailing.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Love Lorenzo. x

Heh, heh. (blushing) Um... Folks, that "x" from LorenzoTheLlama was purely platonic and 'Renzo, as I call her, is a girl. Er, woman. Anyway, (clearing throat) here's the answer to the question about my photographs.

The two moon photos were taken nineteen seconds apart at 9:38 PM on Monday night, September 15, 2008. (Ain't digital photography great?!)

WOW! Love the moon shots, but to know that it's the same scene just different settings is amazing. Would have loved to see the combination. Don't you know how to do that now? (As if I know ANYTHING about photo-editing software!)

The Moon is an incredible thing. It's something the Father made for a very special purpose, it is a dead hunk of rock, but it shines so beautiful, doesn't it.
And the spiritual analogy is obvious.

thanks for sharing these Craver.
You truly entered....."The Twilight Zone"...

I like both! I tried some moon shots this past week also, but didn't get a single one that I wanted to share.

Both captures are interesting, Cravervii. It's amazing what cameras can capture; our own eyes might never see this effect, although it was there all the time.

Nice Sky Watch.

Wow that is great. Both shots are intruiging. Did you stand there for a while just drinking in the scene?

What exotic vision! I Love these pictures! it is such a wonder, how the water in the clouds reflect moonlight and creates a luminous halo in the sky. When I was a child, upon seeing such a sight, I used to think, that God has made an appearance upon the canvas of the sky and is watching us! :)

Craver: Really cool shots of the moon, maybe I should try a tripod to get that clear shot.

Oh, silly you. Your shots are stunning. I wish my silliness rendered something this positive! Very nicely captured.
