There is something special about being close to the birds (house sparrows), but I wanted to get closer, so I sat near the feeder, and I waited.

You do have incredible patience Craver. And it always, almost, pays off. Nice capture up close and personal with the birds.
It is the same lens Chris. But I found a comfortable chair next to the guard rail and sat motionless until they finally started coming back to the feeder--which was very close.
Thank you Gaelyn. There was little patience required this time, because it was really, really comfortable. The weather was perfect, the chair was comfy, the guard rail took all the weight of my arms and the camera. All I did was relax. Then click.

300 lens wouild work very nice here Craver.

That's what I used, Imac. The other one (18-55mm) would have been too small.

You'd think that as you were making such a sacrifice to get the picture, they would at least have turned round and smiled for the camera.
