the camera dance

This little butterfly is the Fiery Skipper. (Thanks Fishing Guy, for the bug link.) They hop around a lot, but its skipping around was to my advantage, because as long as I could react quickly, it offered several different profiles. I would have preferred to clearly see both antennae. Nevertheless, I am quite satisfied with this result. The butterfly photo was taken under the flagpole at church. Several people are presently collaborating to reconfigure the landscaping to something that looks pretty, but at the same time, does not require a lot of work to maintain.

.

Then, I have some Zinnias from a friend's yard. She spends a lot of time in her yard, and between the bird feeders, vegetables and flowers, I would be a fool to visit their home without my camera. They are kind enough to let me wander away from the conversation or dinner table to chase photo opportunities. I'll be they stand inside the windows and laugh at me, while I'm out there, doing the camera dance. You know how it goes... both hands holding the eyepiece to the face, crouch low, stretch high, move side to side, get down to the ground, find a spot and freeze... then do it all over again.

Yep, I'm familiar with that dance ;)

Lovely photos Craver, as per usual.

Leeloo?? Is that a white gown you're wearing? Is there something you would like to tell the rest of the class?

Hahaha Craver, no it's just a tube top :P Not ready for the white gown yet, heehee!

Craver, Nice photo of the skipper. I'm still waiting for my camera (sensor) to be repaired, and am in serious shutter withdrawal.

It's so nice to have friends who love us anyway when we wander away, or when, right in the middle of talking, we raise the camera to our eye and snap something. :)

Oops. Sorry for jumping the gun. It's a lovely photo, and it looks like you are holding a goblet of sunlight.

Wonderful shots Craver, you're quite the photographer you know.

Neat photo of the fiery skipper. Ha! Never worry about those people who laugh at us. They simply do NOT understand. :)

I truly love the camera dance and practice a lot. I can see you do too. Great shot of the butterfly, and the bright zinnias.

Christine, that's been out for a while, hasn't it? What happened to the sensor? I thought my camera was out of commission for five hours on Saturday, and they almost had to put me in a rubber room.

Thank you kindly, Imac. I appreciate your example, your encouragement, and your friendship.

Oh, I never worry about them, EG. I milk it for all it's worth! :-)

The "camera dance." (lol) Now all we need Gaelyn is to figure out the music, and we'd really have something here.

Outstanding photo of the skipper Craver. I am trying to remember to enlarge all photographs now and enjoyed all the detail. You can actually see that little butterfly's proboscis dipping into the flower. How cool is that? The zinnia shot is always very beautiful, love the color combination.

I'm sure your neighbors enjoy your camera dance (I think my neighbors enjoy mine). I definitely know we enjoy the results of those dances.

I love the little skippers but I haven't seen one all summer. You got a really nice one here.

I liked reading about the $100 hamburger. Thanks for the link. :)

Cute skipper Craver. I love zinnia's, they are such a plain flower but make a wonderful show in a garden.

No worries my friend :)
And yes, it does look like I'm holding a goblet of light, doesn't it!

Denise, I definitely did the camera dance for those zinnias. There were too many colors, all clamoring for attention, and the hard part was trying to find a way to make the eye focus on a simple subject. I was glad to have found that, because I like those robust colors so much.

Thanks; I was happy with these results Fishing Guy.

We are just dancin' fools, George. It's what we do. :-)

Thanks Carletta. That may possibly be the last time I use the 2x teleconverter, though. Something broke, and I had the hardest time removing it from my camera. I was scared that it would be permanently attached.

I'm glad you like them, Joan. Both of these pictures had the benefit of strong sunlight. It made a big difference for me.

That is a cool effect Wendy. I will probably look to see if I can produce something similar. It is good to see you visiting the blog again. I missed you.

That looks like one of MY pictures!

Mommanator, that's what drew me to these flowers.

As for you, my Mrs. You are a natural behind the lens, but these really were my shots. Besides... you can't have ALL the good ones. :-)
