There is a project going on where several people are making these giant paper flowers. The blossoms are temporarily being piled in an office corner. I walked through that area and do you know what ran through my head? Do you remember the movie E.T.? There was a scene where E.T. was hiding in a closet full of toys and stuffed animals. I thought about placing a little girl inside all these flowers with only her head poking out... kind of like E.T. I called on some friends and they said I could borrow their daughter for the shot. Here's what I got.

After the shot, I cleared away a few flowers, took my little volunteer by the hands and carefully let her out of the pile. I thought I was all done, but to my delight, her baby sister reached out for me to place her in the same spot. It melts my heart to have a baby reach out to me. I gladly obliged, and now her family will have TWO special pictures of their precious little girls!

When my daughter was in middle school their violin group went to Busch Gardens. We had given her spending money. She brought back one of these huge paper flowers for me. Talk about your heart melting. :)
Yeah Mr. Dave. I'm in debt to those folks who put all that time and effort into creating the flowers.

This is a marvelous photo, and I'm glad the baby sister wanted her picture taken as well. I'm sure the family is going to treasure both of those photos.

Oh absolutely, Chris. She is missing a tooth, and she was my number-one choice for this idea. If I had it to do over again, I think I would have configured a snoot on the flash to bring her face out just a little more.
