right place, right time
December 17, 2014
This week's challenge selection is
right place, right time by Tom (Fishing Guy). Check out my pals for their interpretations on this theme:
Fishing Guy,
Katney,
Imac,
Lew, and
Christine Anne.
I like the idea of this theme, but I might be posting something different from my headbanging mates. Initially, I was thinking along the lines of a subject cleverly placed or something randomly "lucky," but anything that I had in my archives along those lines was already used for
unexpected photo result and/or
forced perspective.
When taking portraits, I rarely just shoot from the hip. I try to be deliberate about "making" pictures--as opposed to "taking" pictures. That requires careful attention to the background or setting (right place) and being ready to press the shutter for a good facial expression (right time). With that in mind, I hope you enjoy this week's series. And just for fun... I'll post them in Black & White.
The header was being in the right place at the right time to see Mother Goose lead her fluffy goslings away from the nest.

She happened to be standing between a large painting and the serving hatch. It looks like a portrait studio. |
|
Baptism pics can be tricky, especially since I do not want to be a distraction. |
|
The toy bounced, and this bird balanced it on its neck for a few seconds before the ball went to one side. |
|
These ladies had the giggles while I was trying to make a nice publicity portrait. |
|
Now this one WAS shot from the hip. I did a no-look shot at waist level while she showed off. |
|
This little darling has my heart... even when she's clowning for my camera. |
|
He puts up with so much from me. I love his expression! |

Great works of Art my friend, Love the Header but those B/W were wonderful, love the Parrot act.
Nice collection of fun portraits, Craver.
I love the one with the little girl blowing a kiss.
Fun captures Craver, nice work on the geese.
I've never shot my camera from the hip....but you've given me courage.
Great job!!
I love the fur baby's eyes in the last photo. So adorable....
Some fun shots you got! And some are definely one time possibilities!
Love all the black-and-whites. Love the lighting on that lady's face, too. Sometimes you have to carry your camera around, position yourself, re-position, then just wait. You've got some great images here. :)
I like the one you say you shot from the hip, such a sweet face.
hi craver, the portraits are gorgeous!
dropping by to wish you a very merry christmas! :))
best wishes to you and your family!
